Changeover on the streaming platform Twitch: Call of Duty: Warzone 2 takes the lead one week after release and is now the biggest game. We will show you how the numbers look and which big losers had to make way for the new Warzone on MeinMMO.
What do the top 3 on Twitch look like? A lot has happened in the past weeks – the gaming year 2022 is finally gaining momentum after countless delays and directly brings 2 new releases into the top 3 on Twitch:
- CoD Warzone 2: 27.3 million
- GTA Online: 22.8 million
- Pokémon Scarlet/Purple: 22 million
- Rounded viewer hours last 7 days
- As of: 23.11.22 / 1:30 PM

Against the phenomenon GTA Online, there is simply no remedy – the game runs and loses only a meager 5% in viewer hours compared to the previous week. We will list which games have lost significantly below.
CoD Warzone 2 attracts viewers away from the competition
Which games have lost viewers? Particularly prominent among the top spots are 3 major losers:
- Counter-Strike: Global Offensive: -68.9%
- God of War Ragnarök: -75.7%
- CoD: Modern Warfare 2: -52.7%
The numbers of the biggest losers can all be explained precisely. A week ago, the most important tournament of the year took place for CS:GO: the Majors in Rio de Janeiro. Such mega-events attract many players.
Single-player games like God of War generally have a shorter half-life than service games on Twitch – a story campaign is eventually completed, and the biggest creators quickly leave the game.
CoD MW2 has lost many viewers to Warzone 2. Generally, battle royale games are also better for watching than fast-paced multiplayer skirmishes. Interestingly, CoD MW2 is at the top in streamed hours – nearly 19,000 channels streamed more than 1.36 million hours.
League of Legends, Valorant, Minecraft, and Apex are also seeing significant declines in their numbers. This can partly be explained by streamers switching their games – apart from Minecraft, the titles have lost viewer hours in proportion to their streamer hours lost.
Alongside the losers, 2 more games from Activision Blizzard creep into the top 10 with strong viewer gains: WoW with the upcoming Dragonflight expansion (+100%) and Overwatch 2 (+26%).
Call of Duty: Warzone 2 is well-received, despite some technical flaws. The first Warzone already created a huge CoD hype, and its successor is also entering the market with a lot of momentum.
As a service game, Warzone regularly receives new content, with the mid-season of Season 1 arriving on December 14, and it will be exciting to see how long the battle royale can maintain its momentum.
