In German Twitch, one distances oneself. HandOfBlood distanced himself from Shurjoka. For this, he was praised by a right-wing ideologist. HandOfBlood has now distanced himself from that.
This is the main conflict:
- The German Twitch streamer HandOfBlood mentioned the Spiegel-interview on March 6, discussing the ongoing conflict surrounding the streamer Shurjoka and stated that both sides were behaving destructively.
- For this, he was criticized by Shurjoka: She was disappointed that HandOfBlood would say such a thing. The streamer then noticeably distanced himself from her.
- For his statements, HandOfBlood was praised by a right-wing ideologist. This is an Austrian who was involved in a scandal that made headlines across Germany: According to media reports, there was a meeting in Potsdam in November 2023 attended by AfD members where a “master plan for remigration” was discussed (via correctiv.org).
Shurjoka confronts HandOfBlood with praise from the right
This is what happened next: Shurjoka, herself an Austrian, accused HandOfBlood on March 22 on Twitter of being publicly praised by an Austrian right-wing extremist. He described him as likable and stated that HandOfBlood was “100% right” in the “specific dispute”.
Shurjoka said: If the head of a right-wing extremist movement praises how a woman is treated, against whom a hate campaign is being waged, then HandOfBlood need not worry about being called “HandOfWoke”.
The attack carries the accusation that her former supporter HandOfBlood, whom she looked up to, has abandoned her because he wants to distance himself from a woke image in order to work with streamers like MontanaBlack on Twitch now.
One must see through it
This is how HandOfBlood reacted: The Twitch streamer HandOfBlood distanced himself explicitly from this praise from the completely wrong corner on March 26. He did not mention the ideologist by name to avoid giving him a platform.
He stated that this is a typical behavior pattern of the right – also historically – that one must see through.
Right-wingers would use a dispute within a left-wing bubble for their own purposes:
Now there are some people on Twitter who are unsure if I would be friends with this person. […] It is certainly very uncomfortable when a right-wing extremist praises someone. I would like to make it very clear […] These are certainly not my friends and I am also not their new friend.
HandOfBlood is one of the most successful and well-known German influencers. A few months ago, he made the switch from YouTube to live streaming on Twitch:
