The famous Twitch streamer DrLupo held a 24-hour stream to raise money for a children’s hospital. The biggest donor was Twitch itself, which surprised the streamer with a donation of over one million US dollars.
What kind of stream was that? DrLupo was live for 24 hours to diligently raise money for St. Jude Hospital in the USA. The stream was a complete success, as over 2 million dollars were raised.
One scene was especially touching. Twitch itself donated one million dollars. This surprised DrLupo so much that he even fought back tears.
Many streamers were big donors
Check out the Twitch donation here: While donations from viewers were coming in and DrLupo had already raised over one million dollars, he opened a gift from Twitch.
Inside was a big check for one million dollars. The recipient was St. Jude Hospital. It was signed by John Twitch.
DrLupo apparently did not expect this. He fought back tears and asked, “Are you serious?”
Who else donated? In addition to Twitch’s huge donation, there were numerous other donors known in the streamer scene.
For example, the Mixer streamer Ninja donated 30,000 dollars, and his streamer colleagues TimTheTatman and CouRageJD each contributed 5,000 dollars to the children’s hospital. DrLupo himself donated 25,000 dollars.
However, the largest donation received through Twitch came from the small streamer CCKun91. He donated 37,777 dollars during the stream, surpassing even his big streamer colleagues.
What is behind the stream? In 2018, DrLupo held such a donation stream. Back then, over 1.3 million dollars were raised. In the summer of 2019, he raised almost a million in just 4 hours during the Guardian Con.
This time, it amounted to over 2.3 million dollars in total.
St. Jude Hospital is a world-renowned children’s hospital in Memphis, Tennessee, specializing in the treatment of cancer. No family receives a bill here. The treatment of children is therefore free of charge, which is something special in the USA. Many families are uninsured and cannot afford such expensive hospital visits.
The hospital relies on donations to continue providing free treatment for children.
