In the shooter Apex Legends, Facilitatur was apparently at the top of the leaderboard on PC, despite not deserving the spot. He capitalized on his fame and was able to increase his viewer count on Twitch from a peak of 15 to 333. However, after being accused of cheating by another Twitch streamer, this led to anger within the community and a swift ban.
Thus, the streamer’s viewer count exploded:
- The Twitch streamer Facilitatur has had a steep career
- A month ago, he only had about 15 viewers at his peak when playing Apex Legends
- But when he reached rank 1 on the leaderboard for PC, his viewer count on Twitch exploded. At his peak, 333 people were watching him.
Apex Legends is considered one of the best shooters in the world:
Big Twitch streamer accuses him of cheating
This was the accusation: “HisWattson” is one of the biggest Twitch streamers for Apex Legends, globally he is ranked number 4.
HisWattson exposed the number 1 on August 22: He stated that this player had already been caught cheating 3 times before. Surely he would cheat again the 4th time.
He himself has played against this guy many times and was never able to catch him off guard or surprise him in any way. The guy always knows when you’re coming.
It is clear to him that the number 1 on the leaderboard is cheating. It can’t seriously be that someone like that is allowed to stay in the top spot.
Cheaters in the top spot steal money and fame from honest players
Why was it so important to expose him? HisWattson says: The rank 1 is extremely valuable for Twitch streamers. If someone cheats to get to rank 1, they would take money/fame and subs away from honest players who actually deserve it.
Rank 1 would be “life-changing” for top players:
- When he was rank 2, he went from 10 to 200 viewers.
- When he achieved rank 1, he increased from 800 viewers to 1,000.
But later, he lost the rank to a cheater. Now he feels sorry to see that other players face the same fate, who work their way up and get robbed of their success.
This was the reaction: The ban came live in a game on August 23. As the site Dotesports reports, HisWattson’s Twitter post generated so much response that Apex Legends evidently had to take action.
The whole situation was also delicate because the player had previously been in the number 1 spot and had also been caught cheating at that time.
This is what’s behind it: It shows that there are various ways to be successful on Twitch. In shooters, apparently being “the best” is advantageous if everyone knows it.
But one should achieve that in an honest way.
Because currently, it seems like the former number 1 in Apex Legends has stopped streaming: Facilitatur has not been live since the ban.
