The Twitch boss Dan Clancy was a guest on a stream that wasn’t even about MMORPG streamer Asmongold. Somehow, the Twitch CEO managed to make fun of the streamer and his receding hairline. Asmongold doesn’t want to let that slide.
What’s the deal with the CEO? Dan Clancy became the head of Twitch in March 2023 after the former CEO Emmett Shear, one of the founders of the platform, wanted to focus more on his family.
However, Clancy had long been reputed to have no connection to the streamers, he was said to be “out of touch.” In May, the 59-year-old became increasingly active on Twitch himself and also appeared in the streams of other content creators.
Asmongold takes “crossfire”: The root of the problem
How does Asmongold come into play? In a joint stream with “JoJoThaMoFo,” Clancy appeared approachable and handed out “Dad Advice,” fatherly tips. The streamer “Cinna” joined in and asked for dating tips, her love life was totally in the basement.
The streamer admitted that dates had suggested she change her hairstyle and showed her high forehead, which she had cleverly hidden under her bangs. Clancy exclaimed that she was wearing a wig, like Donald Trump, but Cinna replied that she was just copying Asmongold.
For the Twitch boss, the case is thus closed: “If you take hair tips from Asmongold, that’s the root of your problem.”
What does Asmongold say about this? The MMORPG streamer has been hearing jokes at the expense of his hairline for quite some time and can mostly laugh about it himself.
However, when he hears how Cinna and Dan Clancy present his sparse hair as the root of all relationship problems, his facial expression changes: His eyebrows shoot up, and the streamer repeatedly opens and closes his mouth without making a sound.

Afterward, the Twitch streamer explains: He has had enough now, he is done. He will now stream Diablo 4 on his second account.
Asmongold cuts off Twitch’s revenue
What’s the deal with the second account? Besides his main channel Asmongold, the streamer has a second channel, zackrawrr. The idea behind it is that he presents a persona on the main channel “Asmongold” that embodies the stereotype of an MMORPG nerd.
On the second channel, he wants to be more authentic and more himself, even if the difference is not always clear to viewers.
Practically, the difference is another: The second channel is not monetized. Asmongold once stated that it would cost Twitch more than €150,000 in a month if he showcased major releases as zackrawrr instead of on the Asmongold channel.
In plain language, this means: “You were mean to me, so you shouldn’t profit from me anymore.”
In fact, there might be some truth to Dan Clancy’s claim, as Asmongold’s own love life doesn’t seem to be going quite as one might wish:
