During the “No Food Challenge” by Twitch streamer Maximilian “Trymacs” Stemmler (28), participants refrained from eating for a week. Guests tried to tempt them with aromatic delicacies. One participant held on bravely, only to fail at a tiny detail: a peanut.
What was this challenge about? From March 11 to 18, the “No Food Challenge” took place on Trymacs’ Twitch channel. Eight participants had to go a week without food while facing nasty challenges. Things got pretty chaotic.
The “No Food Challenge” is an entertainment event, it does not represent a healthy or sustainable method of losing weight.
If you want to fast, please inform yourself thoroughly and possibly consult a doctor.
On March 18, the grand finale took place starting at 12:00. The remaining five participants had to walk 5 kilometers on their treadmills and watch their before-and-after footage: all candidates had lost significant weight and were partly shocked by the changes to their bodies.
Afterward, the participants were allowed to reward themselves with sugary drinks – these had also been off-limits during the challenge until then.
However, eating was not allowed until the grand breaking of the fast at 19:15. One candidate, however, stumbled precisely on these final meters.
Twitch streamers like Trymacs or this CoD streamer keep coming up with crazy ideas to entertain their viewers.
Buzzed from sweet drinks, candidate reaches for the wrong nut
What went wrong? With less than 4 hours to go until the “Great Feast,” YouTuber Nicolas Stemmler, Trymacs’ own brother, makes a mistake: still buzzed from the sugary drinks, he goes into the kitchen and examines the snacks laid out there.
He then absentmindedly pops a peanut into his mouth – thus eating for the first time in a week. Therefore, he would have been theoretically disqualified.
This is particularly bitter, as the YouTuber held out for so long while truly resisting all temptations: from the infamous casserole of Twitch streamer Marcel “MontanaBlack” Eris to the €8,000 steak that his brother’s team grilled.
You can see the decisive blunder in the embedded video starting at 4:07.
YouTuber says: “Was in the zone”
How did the YouTuber react? He admitted his mistake in front of the assembled crowd. That’s totally ridiculous, he says. Because the body doesn’t care if you accidentally eat a single peanut.
Trymacs’ brother explains that looking at the body’s functions, the fast is over. He mentions ketosis and autophagy, processes activated in the body through fasting – they are ceased by food intake.
Nicolas Stemmler says he took on the “No Food Challenge” “also for many health reasons,” and that is now all “over”.
Why a peanut of all things? A single peanut is probably not the feast that the participants had been dreaming of after so many days without food. However, it seems that the YouTuber was less concerned about the temptation.
Rather, after the sugary drinks, he was “in the zone,” probably not fully realizing that food was actually still off-limits. However, he takes it with humor:
Yes, I am out. I just got knocked out of the challenge with a single peanut. I’m feeling great right now, but I’m out because of a single peanut.
At the big feast in the evening, the YouTuber ultimately decided on a proper delicacy to officially break the fast: a greasy pizza with extra cheese.
For Trymacs himself, the “No Food Challenge” was a complete success. Not only did he last the full week without taking a single bite, but the event was also well received by the viewers. What factors could have played a role in this, you can read about here:
