The currently largest streamer on Twitch, the Canadian Felix “xQc” Lengyel (25), has been temporarily banned on Twitch. The reason for this is his cheating in a Twitch tournament for Fall Guys last week.
This is what happened:
- xQc participated in a Twitch Rivals for Fall Guys last weekend. There he was caught stream sniping and prevented another player from winning
- As a result, there were protests from numerous streamers. It even led to a verbal exchange between Tyler1, Tfue, and xQc. They yelled at each other. The calmer streamer shroud referred to it as an outrageous incident and a ban
- Now the ban has followed. Twitch “suspended” xQc temporarily from the platform
Ban for xQc on Twitch – He shows insight
How long does the ban last? The ban lasts for one week. xQc should be available on Twitch again in the evening hours on November 25.
What exactly was the trigger for the ban? xQc played in a Twitch tournament for Fall Guys and no longer had the opportunity to win any prize money. However, his teammate did.
Therefore, xQc watched the stream of Dr. Lupo, who was on the opposing team. This allowed him to identify which player was his opponent, and he held onto him for so long that he could no longer qualify and was eliminated.
Other streamers then took a closer look at this situation and couldn’t believe that xQc actually watched the opponent’s stream: This is called “stream sniping” and is generally frowned upon.
Several major streamers were upset about this. Among them were Tyler1, the big bully of Twitch and shroud, who just made his comeback on Twitch in the summer.
What does Twitch say now? The streaming platform commented on the Twitter portal of Twitch Rivals. There they wrote: “At GlitchCon, our player conduct rules were violated. We require all participants to adhere to the same rules in order to participate in a tournament. As a result, xQc has received a temporary suspension of their Twitch account and a temporary ban from Twitch Rivals, losing associated prize money.”
What does xQc say about it? The streamer had already shown remorse directly after the Twitch tournament. He apologized and stated that his fans do not need to protect him.
He then also addressed the incident again on Twitter: “What I did had no impact on the outcome, but it was wrong. I’m sorry, I didn’t try to cheat out of malice, but just to entertain. 7 days suspension starting now.”
Twitch is under criticism: Despite the ban, there is criticism for Twitch. Almost every ban on Twitch is hotly debated and fans of the respective streamer always mention a multitude of similar cases where Twitch did not react.
This is now also the case. The top comment under the statement from Twitch is, for example: “Let me be clear. Pokimane literally opens Pornhub on stream and Twitch says ‘Yeah, cool, whatever I still love you, queen.'”
In general, Twitch is accused of only reacting when media attention is particularly high. Here, other notable streamers were upset, and Twitch reacted.
Lastly, xQc also drew attention in the CoD community. There he insulted a complete stranger who had previously gotten on his nerves. A behavior that Twitch does not like to see either. However, no consequences followed this time.
This is how successful xQc is currently: The Canadian is currently the largest streamer on Twitch. No other streamer is currently watched as many hours as xQc. He has thus probably won the battle for the Twitch crown in 2020.

Now the streamer must take a break for 7 days and can continue afterwards. A similar situation happened to MontanaBlack, the largest German streamer. However, he was banned for a month for an action that was hotly debated:
