The streaming platform Twitch has temporarily banned former Overwatch star Felix “xQc” Lengyel once again. Somehow, he has managed to get himself into trouble and receive a ban; this time with a clip about mating primates. However, xQc will be back on air on Saturday.
This time xQc was banned for: According to his own statements, the streamer xQc, who is extremely popular among youth, received a “24-hour” ban for “accidentally” showing how two gorillas were mating.
He says there’s nothing to see. People should move along.
Honestly, xQc does not really know why he was banned for this. He says the video was nothing to worry about by its nature. No harm was done. Nobody thought anything of it, the video was even in meme format.
xQc receives a ban for clip, not for DMCA
The clip in question is circulating on Twitter. It’s a short video that xQc apparently clicked on unwittingly and immediately closed after realizing what he was seeing: Two mating primates.
Warning: The clip indeed shows two mating monkeys. If that’s too harsh, you should not click. (via twitter).
Despite his assertions of innocence, xQc has now received a 24-hour ban on Twitch for this. xQc should be back on Twitch over the weekend.
The rumors that xQc could have been banned due to copyright violations amid increased DMCA complaints are not accurate.
“Don’t click anything blindly on Twitch”
What’s behind it: Viewers of streamers enjoy sending their streamers clips they know could get them banned. Normally, every streamer suspects that something like this awaits them, checks these links beforehand, or has them checked.
The rule is actually: If you’re live, you should never click on any link whose content you don’t know.
However, since xQc often does reaction streams and is on air for long periods, he is constantly at risk of someone setting him up like this. Especially since xQc is not exactly known for being incredibly focused and organized.
Why is xQc banned and others are not?
This makes it somewhat odd: The discussion arises as to what criteria Twitch uses to ban streamers. Because xQc was merely careless here and apparently did not show the clip intentionally. Actually, Twitch always wants to consider the “context” of an action.
In May 2020, there was a similar case with the streamer Imane “Pokimane” Anys. She was tricked by her chat into showing a sexually explicit clip from a porn site live on stream.
However, she was merely reprimanded by Twitter for “showing brief nudity or sexual content by accident” (via dexerto) and not banned. xQc, on the other hand, received a 24-hour suspension.

What could this be about? The streamer xQc is known for showing “risky” content. He last received a suspension from Twitch in March 2020 when he streamed a strip game from Steam on Twitch and defeated his virtual opponent, who then took off her clothes.
Pokimane is not known for such behavior.
