For the second time, the Twitch streamer “Kaceytron” has been banned indefinitely, apparently now due to a violation of copyright. The community hopes for a permanent ban.
Who is Kaceytron? Kaceytron has been streaming on Twitch since 2013 and has 560,000 followers. She mainly operates in the “Just Chatting” category. She herself categorizes her streams under the label “Safeplace”.
What happened? On June 26, she was banned on Twitch. When accessing her channel, the message appears: “Content from this channel has been removed at the request of the copyright holder.”
- This was already the second ban for Kaceytron. The first she received for a distasteful remark about the coronavirus.
- After her first ban, she called for a ban on her colleague “Alinity” and threatened with an uproar if it did not occur.
In response to the tweet about the second ban, she reacted on June 26 with a retweet, in which she writes: “And I would do it again.”
“She plays movies while she sleeps”
What was she banned for? Due to the message that her content was “removed at the request of the copyright holder”, it can be inferred that she streamed content that cannot be streamed without permission.
Copyright holders can notify Twitch and demand the removal of copyrighted works if they believe that their rights have been violated without permission (via Twitch Guidelines).
A violation of copyright results in the removal of channel content as well as a temporary suspension that can last from 1 to 30 days. However, repeated violations can lead to a permanent ban.
The title of her last stream on June 25 at least suggests that she streamed videos, movies, or shows: “REALITY TV ALL DAY. SUPER BINGE SUNDAY.”
According to Sportskeeda, she streamed the science fiction film “Total Recall” from 1990 during her stream on June 25.
What does the community say? In the subreddit r/LivestreamFail the initial tweet was discussed. Foxfire802 suspects a violation of DMCA: “She played movies in full screen while she was asleep.”
TheKarmaFiend writes: “Please, please, please, let it be a permanent ban.” and receives 22 upvotes for it. On Twitter, there is more enthusiasm for the ban than shock or sympathy.
Several users comment on the tweet with a “W” (Win). XuiryToRare writes “The prayers have been heard.” Hackn3y writes: “What do you say about Kick?” Several streamers are currently switching there.
