The German streamer Kevin “Papaplatte” Teller has been banned from Twitch again. This is said to be his 6th ban this year, but this time the suspension seems to be lasting a bit longer.
This is what happened: The situation surrounding the streamer is as follows:
- According to the website Streamerbans, Papaplatte has been banned for the 6th time this year
- So far, the bans have only lasted one day, but now his channel has been unreachable for 2 days
- The bans followed for various reasons, as the streamer announced on Twitter
One of the biggest German streamers banned
This is Papaplatte: The streamer currently lives in Berlin and has been streaming on Twitch for several years. He currently ranks among the biggest German streamers. In the last 30 days, Papaplatte had an average of 11,400 viewers (via Nindo) and is thus in 5th place among German-speaking Twitch streamers.
Papaplatte plays a variety of games in his streams and reacts to videos. He also takes his community along through his life in real-life streams.
This is how the last ban happened: On Twitter, Papaplatte explains his ban in a statement. There he says: “I am currently banned from Twitch for a longer time because, firstly, I have received a lot of bans. […] Also, I drove a car in one of my last IRL streams and used my phone.”
He also shows understanding and says that the past bans were partly very foolish of him. He also states that although he did not violate traffic regulations, it was still very foolish: “I realize that it was very stupid and that I could have endangered other road users.”
This is behind the recent bans: Overall, there have already been 5 more bans on Twitch this year. They each lasted only 24 hours.
Often, videos that the streamer reacted to were to blame. There, things were shown that violated Twitch’s guidelines.
This is behind such bans: Such bans on Twitch are often accompanied by many discussions. After all, the streamer does not intentionally misbehave there but unintentionally watches videos that violate the guidelines.
Twitch often shows leniency and only issues small bans. Thus, Papaplatte has only ever been banned for 24 hours in the past.
Nevertheless, such occurrences should not happen too often, as Twitch reacts more severely, as is the case with Papaplatte now. How long the ban will last here is still unknown. However, the streamer promises that in the future, he will have the videos checked beforehand. For this, he claims to have already hired someone to take care of the checks.
Not only unconscious scenes from videos were discussed on Twitch. In December 2019, the streamer Sweet Anita was criticized. She suffers from Tourette syndrome and therefore inadvertently insults people.
In one stream, she said the N-word, which led many viewers to demand her ban. Twitch reacted to this very understandingly.
