The streaming platform Twitch has permanently banned the German streamer Uwe “Flying Uwe” Schüder (33). The streamer himself finds this unfair. He did threaten an anonymous caller and insulted him badly, but there were people behind his ban who were just waiting for something like this to happen.
This is Flying Uwe on Twitch: The 33-year-old German streamer has 435,411 followers on Twitch. This makes him number 16 among the German channels on Twitch. Although he is far from the 3 German top streamers, he does have some fans on the platform.
Flying Uwe has played Valorant in recent days like many other Twitch streamers. On average, 1,381 people watched him, and he was also active in CoD Warzone and in the “Just Chatting” category.
Flying Uwe is actually at home on YouTube. There he has 1.4 million subscribers. He has been on Twitch since November 2013 and is a partner there. However, the partnership has now come to a sudden end.
Flying Uwe is permanently banned for threatening violence
This led to Flying Uwe’s ban: The streamer published a ban notice from Twitch on Twitter on May 15. It states that his channel was permanently banned. He is accused of “threatening violence.”
Later, Flying Uwe said he had received another email. He then explained the circumstances of his Twitch ban in more detail.
Someone had called him anonymously five times while he was live streaming in an IRL stream. The Twitch stream kept disconnecting due to the calls.
Flying Uwe himself says: He “insulted and threatened” the caller. While this did make the calls stop, it simultaneously led to his Twitch ban.
People waiting just to report
This is why the streamer finds it unfair: Flying Uwe apparently feels provoked and unjustly banned. There are people who are just waiting for situations like this and are happy to report him.
Flying Uwe portrays it as if he only threatened “for deterrence.”
He has now learned to keep his mouth shut and not to give those malicious people what they want.
This is what the rules say: The community guidelines of Twitch explicitly state that “violence and threats of violence” are taken very seriously. Anything related to such activities leads immediately to a permanent ban (via twitch).
The threat of physically harming others is specifically cited as a reason for a permanent ban.
While other misconduct on Twitch, such as violations of the clothing guidelines or racial slurs, often only result in temporary bans, Twitch evidently does not take threats of violence lightly.
The largest German streamer on Twitch is MontanaBlack. He was recently involved in a conflict with the satirist Jan Böhmermann: Böhmermann had placed MontanaBlack and his community in a politically right corner.
