The German streamers Kevin “Orangemorange” Bongers and Theo “Scurrows” Bottländer seem to have had enough of the streaming platform Twitch after their bans and want to move to the competition. They seem to have lucrative deals with Kick, but are they real?
Who are the streamers? Kevin “Orangemorange” Bongers and Theo “Scurrows” Bottländer became known for role-playing in GTA 5 Online before they took off with casino streams. The gambling regulations issued on Twitch in October 2022 hit the streamers’ channels hard.
Since the beginning of the year, Orangemorange and Scurrows have been openly active on Kick, as gambling is not a problem there but is even encouraged. So far they have continued to be regularly online on Twitch to move their viewers “over”.
At the same time, the streamers launched a provocation offensive on Twitter. Twitch put a stop to it in early June and banned both. The bans have since been lifted, but Orangemorange and Scurrows apparently have no desire to return to Twitch.
Now they apparently seem to have struck lucrative deals with the new streaming platform – the problem is: Kick seems to be unaware of any of this.
Streaming colleague MontanaBlack also says he received an offer from Kick but cannot accept it because the “casino platform” would damage his reputation.
Streamers brag about deals that may not exist
What are these deals? On June 23, 2 posts appeared on the respective Twitter accounts of Orangemorange and Scurrows. Each posted a black-and-white picture of themselves with their face framed in green.
This is exactly how Kick announces its latest achievements, like xQc or Amouranth currently. Both wrote: “12 million €, 2 years” and the emoji of a writing hand. The two streamers strongly suggest that they have signed contracts for 2 years worth 12 million euros.
But is that true? At least some people in the comments doubt it, and these doubts are not entirely unfounded. Because to date (as of June 28, 2023), nothing about the million-dollar deals has been seen on Kick’s official Twitter account.
Kick usually warmly welcomes new streamers to the family. Whoever runs the account, however, seems to be more interested in coming up with puns related to chocolate bars than in the German streamers (via Twitter).
Are they just trying to get attention for Kick?
What’s the deal with these deals? Strictly speaking, neither Orangemorange nor Scurrows have clearly stated that they signed deals with Kick. However, they also do not contradict comments that clearly assume this (via Twitter).
It is also possible that the two streamers want to publicly express their willingness to strike a deal. For example, DrDisrespect also posted a photo of himself in Kick style and boldly demanded $50 million. The streaming platform then stated that they were in talks with his team (via Twitter).
So it remains to be seen whether these are indeed real deals that Kick will confirm over time, a marketing strategy, or whether Scurrows and Orangemorange are just playing a prank.
The question arises as to why Kick should sign two streamers who are already apparently promoting the platform for free. Especially since the deals are in the double-digit million range, a similar offer is said to have been received by MontanaBlack, who is, however, a significantly larger streamer.
Scurrows calls this a “loyalty bonus”, which sometimes counts more than reach. Nevertheless, it seems to be part of Kick’s strategy to purchase the viewers along with the streamers. Therefore, it is unfortunate that the latest addition from Twitch has been banned and can no longer attract viewers:
