What’s happening at OTK? On December 15, Twitch streamer Azalia Lexi made serious allegations against OTK founder Rich Campbell. She elaborated on the allegations the following day in a TwitLonger post.
Rich Campbell is active as a Twitch streamer and caster for WoW. In 2020, he founded the organization One True King together with other MMO nerds Asmongold, Mizkif, and Tips Out. But that’s now over.
Twitch streamer raises allegations against OTK founder
What are the allegations? Azalia Lexi and Rich Campbell allegedly had a friendly and, starting in 2019, also a sexual on-off relationship for over 4 years. During this time, Campbell is said to have treated the streamer at times like a sex object or showered her with affection, according to Azalia Lexi.
After Azalia Lexi reportedly rejected several advances from Campbell, she agreed to meet him in January 2022 while she was in New York, where the content creator had an apartment. However, she had concerns about going to his apartment.
This is how Azalia Lexi describes the events of the evening
Campbell is said to have invited Azalia Lexi to meet him at a cinema that was part of his apartment complex – that was not his apartment. In the cinema, Campbell allegedly tried to get the streamer to lie down on him. She then told him she was not there to sleep with him.
Campbell reportedly then claimed they could not stay in the cinema any longer and had to go to his apartment. However, he promised Azalia Lexi to respect her boundaries, so she agreed.
In Campbell’s apartment, sexually aggressive behavior and subsequent rape allegedly occurred.
This is what Rich Campbell says about the allegations: The content creator responded to the allegations on the same day. Via Twitter, he stated that he had read the statement and wanted to share his side of the story. However, he needed time to organize his thoughts.
Are there consequences? In his Twitter post, Campbell also stated that OTK had asked him to step down from his position in the organization. He complied. Hours later, his appearance as a caster at the WoW event “Race to World First” was canceled.
Asmongold: “You are not fans. You are not on our side.”
What were the reactions? Although many Twitter users expressed their sympathy for Azalia Lexi, the allegations were also met with skepticism.
Especially fans of OTK or Rich Campbell did not seem to want to easily accept the allegations and demanded at least evidence. In a stream, Asmongold commented on the situation and also harshly addressed the supposed supporters.
What does Asmongold say? The allegations against Campbell reportedly came to light during a stream by Asmongold. The WoW streamer was apparently overwhelmed by the situation at that moment and said it was damn uncomfortable to comment on it right now while playing a new game.
Shortly after, Asmongold ended the stream. The next day, the streamer took the time to extensively address the situation surrounding the allegations against Rich Campbell. In doing so, he distanced himself from Rich Campbell and supposed fans.
I have seen many people saying that it is not true, that she is making everything up. Please do not do that. You are not our fans, you are not on our side. We are on their [Plural] side. That’s why Rich is gone.
Asmongold also made it clear that he has no tolerance for hostility towards the victims of Campbell’s actions. He urged his viewers to refrain from sending messages to the victims:
If you send messages to these girls and try to […] sow doubt and make them feel bad for coming forward with their story, then you are not our fans. You are not my fans. You are not helping us, you are not helping anyone.
His viewers reacted positively to Asmongold’s clear stance and flooded the chat with hearts. Nonetheless, Asmongold ended the stream after a few hours, stating he could not think clearly.
The allegations against Rich Campbell are particularly striking for Asmongold, as an internal investigation against another OTK founding member is already underway: Matthew “Mizkif” Rinaudo is said to have covered up sexual assaults by a friend who is a Twitch streamer and attempted to intimidate victims.
