In the “No Food Challenge” of Twitch streamer Maximilian “Trymacs” Stemmler, 8 content creators are competing against each other by starving. After an emergency doctor was called, the fire department now also has to respond.
What is this challenge about? Together with 7 other streamers, Trymacs is abstaining from food for a week in the “No Food Challenge.” The kickoff was on March 11, with 3 participants having already dropped out. An emergency doctor was already called during this time:
Just before the finish line, the group around the 28-year-old set off a major fire department operation on the evening of March 17.
Chaos team triggers fire department deployment
How did the deployment come about? In the “No Food Challenge,” almost everything is designed to make it as uncomfortable as possible for the participants. Regular guests visit to cook on-site and tempt the starving content creators.
Things went wrong this time: On the evening of March 17, about 24 hours before the end of the challenge, the soccer team of Trymacs wanted to whet the participants’ appetites with a juicy steak.
However, during the not-so-professional preparation, there was a lot of smoke. Apparently, none of the kitchen heroes thought to activate the exhaust hood, and shortly after, the smoke detector went off.
Although worried viewers demanded a ban for Trymacs due to the risks of the event, the streamer has so far gotten away unscathed. Others have not been so lucky:
The 8,000-Euro steak
What was the problem? As Trymacs reported in his Instagram story, the rented event location is in an office complex with about 30 other parties. If a smoke detector goes off in such facilities, the fire department automatically responds.
In Trymacs’ case, the fire department sent several response vehicles, and the police was on site as well. The content creators watched in disbelief as one vehicle after another turned the corner. We have embedded the entire drama for you here; starting at 4:15, the unfortunate events unfold:
What happened next? As Trymacs reports, the firefighters were understanding. When he apologized for the false alarm, they said that was how you get to know each other.
The deployment is said to have incurred costs of 8,000 Euros. However, it is unclear whether the streamer will be responsible for these costs. Usually, it does not have to be paid if an unnecessary deployment was not triggered intentionally. However, if the smoke detector is triggered by gross negligence, those responsible must pay for the deployment (via anwalt.de).
Trymacs summarizes this succinctly in his Instagram story: “This is bullshit.” (Story available temporarily).
From 12:00 to 14:00 today, March 18, on Trymacs’ channel, the finale of the “No Food Challenge” is taking place. The grand breaking of the fast will follow at 19:15.
Even if Trymacs has to bear the costs of the operation, it should not hit the streamer too hard. The 28-year-old managed to reach the top spot among the most-watched streamers worldwide with his challenge. You can read here which factors may have contributed to the success of the event:
