The German Twitch streamer MontanaBlack (35) looks back on his career and admits to having made mistakes in the past that he is ashamed of. But he has evolved. He now sees in the streamer Shurjoka the behavior that caused him so many problems before.
This is the situation:
- The Twitch streamer Shurjoka was awarded the German Video Game Award as Gamer of the Year in 2023. The streamer describes herself as politically left radical. For example, she advocated for a boycott against Hogwarts Legacy.
- The Twitch streamers Kuchen.tv and MontanaBlack criticized this award. In Shurjoka’s eyes, it is part of a campaign against her. She accuses Kuchen.tv of constantly criticizing and defaming her to generate reach and fill his channel. She even sued him for calling her “left extremist”, i.e., anti-constitutional.
- MontanaBlack repeatedly reacts to the dispute between the two streamers. He firmly stands by “his brother”, Kuchen.tv. The 35-year-old emphasizes his dislike for Shurjoka.

This is what MontanaBlack says about his own career: In a new Twitch stream, MontanaBlack once again confronts Shurjoka, who is embroiled in an ongoing dispute with Kuchen.Tv. Kuchen.tv itself is a controversial person. But for MontanaBlack, that is not a problem.
MontanaBlack says:
Kuchen.tv has certainly done things in the past that I do not celebrate and from which I also distance myself. You can criticize me for that and say: Hey Monte, you are looking at someone who probably hit his wife – or not. Whatever, there were definitely some things in the past with Kuchen.tv that can be criticized or questioned, but – now comes the big but:
As MontanaBlack, I have done things in the past that were also not okay. For which I have been condemned and for which I have received a shitstorm. Nevertheless, we are sitting here together, and people are watching me. […]
I have made mistakes in the past that I am ashamed of, for which I have apologized, from which I have learned, from which I have matured, that have made me a better person, and that same chance, that same treatment that I received, Kuchen.tv also gets from me.”
MontanaBlack no longer comments on negative things against him
How does MontanaBlack recognize that he is now a better person? The core lesson he has drawn from past problems is apparently: If you are in a hole, stop digging.
He says he no longer reacts to “negative things” against him.
Regarding the German streamer Shurjoka, who often attacks Kuchen.tv, he sees exactly the behavior that got him into trouble in the past:
She only makes it worse. At the points where I was in my career before: As soon as I commented on negative things and got myself into deeper shit – which I fortunately no longer do – she is the young Monte with breasts. Cool.
The segment starts around 2:31 minutes:
What does he mean by that? An example of getting “yourself into trouble” can be a case from January 2022: MontanaBlack promoted and raffled NFT monkeys with swastikas. Apparently, the streamer had entered into sponsorship but had not carefully checked what he was actually promoting.
This was apparently an oversight that resulted from pure carelessness. The NFT creator subsequently removed the monkeys.
But MontanaBlack remained stubborn: Instead of admitting the mistake, he downplayed the swastikas in an initial response, saying they were part of German history. He would not have removed the monkeys. The statement just fueled the shitstorm further.
Shortly after, he apologized for “confusing statements” he had made at first. That was probably one of the examples from which he learned: If you are in a hole, stop digging.
