No one earns as much money on Twitch consistently as 27-year-old Félix “xQc” Lengyel. With currently 71,294 subscribers, he earns around €250,000 a month just from subscriptions on Twitch. However, he looks extremely unhappy in a clip when he sees what his colleague shroud has that he lacks.
How rich is xQc?
- The Canadian xQc was a professional in Overwatch in 2018, then transitioned to being a full-time streamer on Twitch and was able to fill a gap in December 2019 that emerged at the top of Twitch when the two stars of Twitch, Ninja and shroud, moved to the platform Mixer.
- Since around 2020, the 27-year-old has been consistently one of the most successful or the most successful streamer on Twitch: It is estimated that he receives significant income from advertisements, sponsorship deals, and subscriptions. Additionally, he operates YouTube channels and generates revenue there as well.
- When a leak appeared at Twitch in 2021, it was revealed that xQc was earning $648,000 a month solely from Twitch. His net worth is estimated to be about $10 million. Currently, with his 71,294 subscriptions, he earns about €250,000 a month – assuming a 70:30 split, which likely still applies to him at the moment.
What is he missing? Anyone thinking that xQc is incredibly happy with his life is mistaken. You can see that in a clip.
After a long day of work on Twitch, xQc browses the channels and stops at the streamers Sodapoppin and shroud. While watching shroud’s gameplay, he says:
He is living his life. He lives with his girlfriend in a nice house. I mean, look at that. I can’t sleep at night, I eat McDonald’s – with every meal. I’m alone in this stupid house that I hate. I know I could change it, I know. But still.
It is not entirely clear who he is referring to. It could apply to both Sodapoppin, whom he was looking at earlier, and shroud, whom he sees while he speaks.
xQc is missing sleep, a home, and proper food
What is he missing? xQc seems to be missing 4 things that streamers like shroud and Sodapoppin have managed to achieve:
- a home where one can feel comfortable
- A partner
- regular proper meals
- (xQc is apparently also missing proper sleep, but it’s unclear if shroud and Sodapoppin have that)
xQc streams 8.5 hours a day without a break – Can never switch off
Why doesn’t he have all that? xQc has a terrible work-life balance:
- xQc streams 3,131 hours a year
- Sodapoppin is on air for only 1,546 hours a year – He moved out of his streamer house in March 2023 and now lives with his girlfriend (via sportskeeda)
- The shooter legend shroud clocks in at 2,133 hours – He has long lived a rather quiet life together with a girlfriend and celebrated that in an advertisement
xQc, on the other hand, apparently has a hard time in his personal life, he was reportedly briefly married to his long-time girlfriend Adept, divorced again, had to move frequently due to stalkers. From the outside, it seems that he simply hasn’t been able to find peace for years and can never switch off.
Reddit does not understand why a multimillionaire eats fast food
How is it being discussed? On Reddit, they are not discussing the fine causes that the problem might have, but the practical aspects: Why on earth does xQc, with all the money he has, only eat McDonald’s? It can’t be that hard to find a decent cook or restaurants. Even “UberEats” would be an upgrade:
- “He could have a private chef every day preparing him healthy 5-star dishes three times a day for the rest of his life, but instead, he continues to order from McDonald’s and complains about it.”

There are also voices suggesting that the sleep problems could be due to abuse of the drug “Adderall”: This is said to be common in the Overwatch scene from which xQc comes. But that is speculation.
