Twilight Spirits is an upcoming MMORPG from China that looks very much like the recently started Beta of Revelation Online. This is because both games are developed by the studio NetEase.
“What is better than Revelation Online? Another Revelation Online!” These thoughts went through my mind when I first saw the announcement along with the first images and trailers for Twilight Spirits, as the new game from the Revelation developers closely resembles its unofficial predecessor.
Swords, Cannons, and Bunnies
The similarities to Revelation Online begin with the presentation of the game. It simply looks like a polished version of Revelation, featuring colorful, Asian-inspired scenarios, winged heroes, and extravagant character designs. This includes, as is typical for most Asian MMOs, barely clothed heroines with large breasts.
The gameplay of Twilight Spirits is said to be even more action-packed than Revelation Online and will showcase a dynamic combat system without fixed target locking. Additionally, like in Revelation Online, classes such as the well-known gunslinger are included, who can even utilize bullet-time slow-motion when dodging specific attacks.
Will it also be released here?
In addition to these gameplay features, there is expected to be a hefty portion of PvP with guild battles, and story fans can also look forward to many voiced stories and cutscenes in an anime look. So, just like in Revelation Online, but probably a bit prettier. Twilight Spirits is currently in its second closed beta in China.
Whether and when the game will be released in the West is still unknown. However, since developer NetEase, together with publisher My.com, is already pushing Revelation Online into the Western market, the chances for a Western release are not looking too bad according to the website Freemmostation.
