Comfort
What does my head look like? My head circumference is about 58cm, so I have a rather smaller head and personally prefer heavier devices.
I have been wearing the device almost continuously during the testing period. During the day, I make numerous calls with the device, listen to music, or play some rounds with friends in the evenings. On long days, I have worn the device for up to 8 hours or more.
Due to the high weight, the headset sits very firmly, but for me, it is definitely not uncomfortable. I would even claim that the headset sits very securely and stably on my head because of the weight, even during quick movements, like when I need to remove the cat from my desk.
The device sits securely and safely on my head, the memory foam is soft and comfortably surrounds the ears. As a glasses wearer, I have no issues with the headset or potential pressure on the arms of my glasses.
Moreover, all important buttons of the headset are located on the left earcup. They are easy to locate by touch and feel intuitive to me, as the buttons vary in size and depth.

However, memory foam has the disadvantage compared to alternative fabric padding that the ears can get quite warm. According to Turtle Beach, cooling gel is used in the ear cushions. However, during long sessions or workdays, the ear cushions become noticeably warm. However, the temperatures beneath the ear cushions never become uncomfortable.
Sound
Throughout the testing period, I have been very pleased with the sound of the headset and it has consistently impressed me.
How do games sound? I have played various genres such as strategy games, RPGs, or fast shooters. In Anno 1800, the soundtrack sounds incredibly powerful, and in Star Wars: Battlefront, the sound and combat action are really impressive.
Additionally, Turtle Beach headsets feature the proprietary “Superhuman Hearing” technology (via turtlebeach.com). This technology aims to make sounds like footsteps or reloading more audible.
In a shooter like Apex: Legends, I can always clearly identify the enemies and their direction. Whether this is due to the technology or the generally convincing sound, I do not know.
How do movies or music sound? I watched movies and series with the device on the PS5. Both very dialogue-heavy series like “ToraDora” and action films like “The Fifth Element” come through well and balanced sonically.
How does the sound overall affect me? The Turtle Beach Stealth 700 Gen 2 Max offers a very balanced sound for my ears, and the individual tones are well harmonized. It does not rely solely on heavy bass like other gaming devices and is therefore also well-suited for non-gaming use.
However, what bothers me is that when the Bluetooth function is activated, there is a slight electrical noise or humming in the sound. This disappears as soon as you turn off the headset and reconnect it to the adapter.
Range and Battery Life
How good is the connection? The range of the headset is also good. I can have the headset connected to the PC while standing in the kitchen and still hear my music or conversations with my friends. However, at a certain distance, my voice is no longer transmitted, and I can only listen.
In most cases, the headset connects easily with the dongle. However, there are some minor issues. If the dongle is already connected to the computer and switches off, I can no longer connect the headset. I then have to disconnect the dongle and reconnect it. This is annoying but manageable.
How is the battery life? Turtle Beach promises 40+ hours of runtime on the packaging. I do not achieve this in long-term testing. I average three long days, which totals about 25 to 30 hours. If you use the device “only” in the evenings for several hours of gaming, you should easily manage a week with the battery life.
What bothers me more is that there is no display for the battery life on the PC. The headset only tells me how full the battery is with a female voice, saying “High,” “Medium,” or “Low” – this does not help me determine when and if I need to charge the device.
Microphone
The biggest weakness of the gaming headset is the microphone. While I am completely satisfied with the comfort, I still prefer to use an alternative microphone while gaming or in the office.
At best, I sound like I am on the phone, a friend always refers to this as the “tin can effect.” And this applies to both the wireless connection and Bluetooth. I find this a bit weak for a gaming headset that costs around 200 Euros on the market, especially when one is not using a combination of microphone and headset.
However, it is practical that I can hear my own voice in the headset. I do not shout against the silence of the headset, but rather speak more naturally and subconsciously calmer. If someone finds this “feedback” of their own voice bothersome, it can also be turned off.
Conclusion: Great headset with avoidable flaws
Who is the headset suitable for? Those looking for a well-built headset with high comfort and good sound quality will definitely find what they are looking for with the Stealth 700 Gen 2 Max. This is especially true for individuals like myself who have a smaller head. With a very broad head, you will noticeably feel the pressure of the headset.
If, instead, you are looking for extensive options to adjust your sound or a microphone for streaming or recordings, then you are wrong with the Stealth 700 Gen 2 Max. Because these are the major weaknesses of the device.

With the Arctis 7P or the Logitech G Pro X Lightspeed, there are two alternatives that are sometimes cheaper and also provide a better microphone. If you are “only” pure sound enthusiasts and rarely need the microphone, then the Stealth 700 Gen 2 Max is a good, albeit not perfect choice.
