Turtle Beach has launched a new gaming headset, the Recon 500, which is designed for gamers on a limited budget for new hardware.
The headset features a detachable microphone and a jack connection. This is especially useful for people who want to play on Xbox Series X or PlayStation 5 alongside their PC. With a jack connection, you are significantly more flexible.

The Turtle Beach Recon 500 aims to convince buyers with new sound technology
What’s special: The Recon 500 uses the proprietary “Turtle Beach Eclipse 60mm Dual” drivers. The manufacturer itself describes them as “brand new” since they are being used here for the first time.
In the Stealth 700 Gen 2 and also in the Elite Pro 2, Turtle Beach had previously used “50mm Nanoclear” drivers, which provide decent sound. Additionally, the gaming headset offers an adjustable, metal-reinforced headband and memory foam ear cups. The combination of both components is designed to provide comfortable ergonomics. Memory foam ear cups are much more comfortable for glasses wearers.

When will the Turtle Beach Recon 500 be available? The new gaming headset will officially be available in Europe from June 18, 2021. In the USA, the release is already a bit earlier.

For 100 euros, you can already get some strong gaming headsets
Why the price range is so important: Many gamers are reluctant to spend a lot of money on hardware, which is why the 100-euro range is a highly competitive field. Manufacturers like Razer, Hyper X, or Logitech are already established here with some good devices. Turtle Beach faces decent competition in this segment:
- With the Razer Nari Essential, you can already get a good gaming headset for around 100 euros. The headset impresses with its decent build quality, good surround sound, and practical microphone.
- The Cooler Master MH751 is also available for less than 100 euros. The headset features a timeless, simple design and is suitable for both music and gaming nights.
- The Hyper X Cloud Alpha offers another very solid and comfortable headset with good sound in the 100-euro range.
If you are willing to spend a little more: With the EPOS H3, which we have already introduced to you in detail, you get a wired gaming headset priced just over 119 euros. However, if you are willing to spend around 20 euros more, you will get a great all-rounder that impresses with its strong build quality and ergonomics.
