Currently, the 2nd season of Trymacs’ own survival show is running on his YouTube channel. In a livestream, he has now revealed the production costs, and the series is really cheap compared to 7 vs. Wild.
What kind of series is this? Trymacs is currently releasing the 2nd season of the series “Nerd in the Dirt” on his YouTube channel. In the survival series, Trymacs and other contestants make their way through the wilderness, led by Otto Bulletproof, who is supposed to ensure that they survive the journey.
In the first season of the series, the contestants navigated through the cold wilderness of northern Scandinavia. The series repeatedly presents the contestants with challenges while they must consistently walk many kilometers through the wilderness.
All participants are always unprepared. The second season begins, for example, with shopping for equipment and clothing for the trip, which must be acquired under time pressure.
During the adventure, there is no large production team present, as Trymacs has recently revealed.

This is how the production of the series works
What does the production behind such a series look like? In a clip from a stream, which is currently gaining attention on TikTok, Trymacs explains what really goes into the production of a season of his show “Nerd in the Dirt”.
In the clip, he says: “There’s no organization team. Leon films, I upload and pay, Otto pushes us through.” The competition 7 vs. Wild has previously seen the organization team generate a lot of buzz.
The streamer also talks about the role of Joyn. The episodes are aired there in advance. He states: “Joyn checks in the end how it’s produced, if it’s cool, if it fits. They think it’s awesome. They air it beforehand.”
When asked whom the show belongs to, he answers: “All rights are completely with us. […] They have no idea what we did in Africa. We just slap the season down, they say whether they like it or not, and they liked it very, very much, and that’s good.”
Why collaborate with Joyn at all? This question is also posed by a viewer in the streamer’s chat. He answers: “Well, they pay for it. It’s just super expensive, you know. […] All the equipment from Otto, […] that we can even be there, […] the whole production, the editing, everything, that’s really expensive […]”.
How much does a season cost? According to Trymacs, a season of “Nerd in the Dirt” costs about 80,000 to 90,000 euros, making it still much cheaper than, for example, 7 vs. Wild. Trymacs estimates the costs of Fritz Meinecke’s survival show to be over one million euros.
He personally considers the price to be low, especially compared to 7 vs. Wild. The founder of 7 vs. Wild has also commented on the costs of his series. He estimates the costs in the seven-figure range: The 3rd season of 7 vs. Wild is said to have cost at least 1 million euros; Fritz Meinecke reveals issues with production.
