Maximilian “Trymacs” Stemmler reports that he feels like his Twitch colleague BastiGHG due to his new hairstyle. The change in his appearance seems so significant that he is no longer recognized on the street.
What made Trymacs do it? Trymacs is on a podcast tour with his Twitch colleagues Florian “Varion” Kiesow and Sascha “unsymapthischTV” Hellinger. In preparation for the tour, Varion and Trymacs decided to change their hairstyles. Both got their hair cut very short and bleached, reminiscent of the rapper Eminem from the 2000s.
Additionally, Trymacs completely shaved off his beard, giving him a new appearance as well. This seems to be so unusual for Trymacs’ environment that he feels like his Twitch colleague BastiGHG, he states.
“No one recognized me”
Why does Trymacs feel like BastiGHG? The Twitch streamer BastiGHG has never shown his face in public. His avatar is a Minecraft skin and in his Twitch streams, his camera is always focused on his hands, operating the keyboard and mouse. In public, he can “move freely” because he is not stopped by fans due to his anonymity.
Trymacs experienced a touch of this anonymity as well with his lack of a beard and new hairstyle. He reports in a stream that he has not been recognized on the street lately. At one point, he was out in Hamburg with his Twitch colleague Domenic “Chefstrobel” Strobel, where fans recognized Chefstrobel.
They greeted him but did not think about who was out with Chefstrobel. Since Chefstrobel and Trymacs have overlapping communities, this should normally have happened.
Trymacs further states: “I could walk through the city center today. I was invisible. No one recognized me. (…) Complete cloak of invisibility. It’s incredibly cool. I usually only have this abroad. (…) I feel like BastiGHG. I can walk around outside and no one recognizes me.” (Source: YouTube from minute 00:22).
Twitch streamer Trymacs, with over 3.8 million followers, is likely recognized on the street quite frequently, so this unwanted break might come in handy for him. One thing the content creator is often approached about is a clip that has been following Trymacs for over 3 years: A clip on Twitch has been following Trymacs for 3 years, as he just wants to game in peace
