Trymacs talks about addiction – you shouldn’t do this
These are his streams: On Twitch, Trymacs regularly opens tons of booster packs of Pokémon cards. For this, he usually buys displays, which are the cardboard boxes containing multiple boosters.

Before each opening, he warns his viewers and advises them not to do it. He earns money through Twitch and YouTube, and can also deduct the displays as operating expenses for tax purposes. Viewers can’t do that.
For a long time, Trymacs claimed he was not addicted to opening. However, he is now openly addressing his addiction, but also emphasizes that it brings him a lot of joy and entertains his viewers.
What reach do the openings have? Not only does Trymacs entertain his viewers with the openings. His fellow streamers, like Repazmois or Rumathra, also open such displays, but not to the extent of Trymacs.
There is also a development in the Pokémon market. The website cardmarket.com shows the price development of the evolution display. While it cost around 600 euros at the beginning of the year, prices have now risen to over 1,000 euros. The hype around Pokémon cards is also affecting card prices.
What’s next? Trymacs has announced that more openings will follow. However, some displays costing several thousand euros will be opened. On Monday, February 1st, he will open a display worth 12,000 euros. It is a display from Team Rocket from the year 2000 – it is therefore over 20 years old.
But it will continue. He wants to open the holy grail of Pokémon cards together with fellow streamer Papaplatte: the base set in the first edition. A display of these booster packs can cost over 30,000 dollars. The most expensive card from it, a holo Charizard, can be worth over 50,000 dollars in the right condition.
