The Hamburger Maximilian “Trymacs” Stemmler opened Pokémon packs on stream on Twitch and had quite bad luck. However, in the midst of a rant, he experienced a pleasant surprise.
What kind of situation was that? One of the most popular content types for Twitch streamer Trymacs is opening packs of Pokémon cards. Over the years, he has spent more than 130,000 Euros on them.
On January 27, 2025, the streamer hosted an opening of the new expansion Prismatic Evolutions, which revolves around the cute Eevee and its various evolutions. It is such a popular edition that a shop stopped selling it in advance. For Trymacs, it became a true rollercoaster of emotions.
Especially rare items from trading card games can be worth a lot of money.
Streamer is in the middle of a rant when his luck turns
How did the opening go? Initially rather sluggish. Although Trymacs pulled some nice artworks, full arts, ex-monsters, and some of the special “Reverse Pokéball” cards, the big hit was not among them. The streamer was, of course, after the stars of the expansion, the alternative artworks of Eevee and its evolutions.
There are a total of 9 of them. However, since the expansion does not rely on classic display boxes but on trainer boxes with only 9 boosters each, the coveted cards are not that easy to obtain.
Trymacs was already complaining: “Yeah, okay, nice. So we have spent 250 Euros so far and have 0 out of 9. That’s pretty awesome. If this continues, it’s perfect. That would be an overly nice evening.”
The mood didn’t really improve in the further course. Interim balance: Packs worth 1,600 Euros opened and the highlight was a card worth about 28 Euros.
After about 2.5 hours, Trymacs had really talked himself into a rage. He cursed: The set was incredibly beautiful, but the chances of good cards were really bad. Never before had there been worse pull rates in a set.
Just as the streamer was explaining that there had never been such “shitty pull rates” in 30 years, he suddenly holds the illustration card of the fan-favorite Umbreon in his hand. This is the most valuable card of the set (via Pokézentrum).
Trymacs can hardly believe his luck in misfortune: He hadn’t drawn anything decent the whole time, only to then get the best card right away.

How much is the card worth now? The value of such a trading card depends significantly on its condition, as it first needs to be graded. A flawless “PSA 10” has already been sold, according to Trymacs, for 7,000 Euros.
However, the streamer immediately recognizes that his copy will probably not reach that rating. Nevertheless, there should be at least 1,000 Euros in it, should he decide to sell it (via ebay). No wonder he visibly shook when putting the card into its sleeve.
In conclusion, despite the mega-hit, the streamer’s summary remains sober: It is a beautiful set, but the great cards won’t be pulled by anyone.
The streamer also makes it very clear to his viewers: Opening packs is “90% loss.” If you want a specific card, you should just buy it. Opening is just “for the feeling.”
For Trymacs, it is calculated that he does not necessarily recoup the money with the cards drawn: He earns from the content that arises from such openings. Other losses may hurt much more: “It’s expired, I won’t get it back” – Trymacs realizes after 3 years that companies owe him 240,000 €
