Twitch streamer Max “Trymacs” Stemmler banned one of his fellow streamers, Domenic “Chefstrobel” Strobel, in his chat on Twitch, and for good reason, as Trymacs thinks. Chefstrobel insulted one of his favorite games.
Who banned whom? The Twitch streamers Trymacs and Chefstrobel are friends and occasionally stream together on Twitch, working on projects together. They are currently in a trio soullink challenge in Pokémon FireRed with Wieland “Rumathra” Welte.
In the process, Chefstrobel pointed out that he is banned in Trymacs’ Twitch chat. However, it’s not because he didn’t follow specific chat rules, but because he insulted the game that Trymacs was playing.
“You are banned forever and ever”
What kind of game is this? In a Twitch stream, Trymacs played the game Foundry, a factory game. In factory games, players build their own factories using conveyor belts, machines, and robots.
According to Trymacs, Chefstrobel watched the stream and wrote “Gammelgame” in the chat. Trymacs was so angry about it that he subsequently excluded his Twitch colleague from his chat.
Why is this bad for Trymacs? Factory games are not really mainstream, like RPGs, but enjoy their niche. Trymacs himself says that he usually has 20,000 viewers on a Twitch stream, but only 4,000 when playing a factory game. However, the fewer viewers enjoy the content very much, and so does he.
Chefstrobel asks if his ban can be lifted, but Trymacs remains stubborn:
“You remain banned. You made a huge mistake. Nobody insults factory games. I play the biggest niche games. This attacks my channel. (…) And then people like you come and want to destroy it just because you don’t like factory games. Foundry has 1,800 followers on Twitch. It’s a dead game. It’s in the trash, but it’s incredibly good. And then you write in there, as ‘n good friend of mine and as a verified Twitch partner: ‘Gammelgame’.
