The racing community is known for its crazy projects and sophisticated gaming setups. However, a trucker goes the extra mile to play as realistically as possible on the road. The whole system costs about as much as a used small car.
What did the trucker show? User ZanaZamora posts on March 16, 2026, a Reddit post in the sim racing subreddit, showcasing his battlestation. He has completely remodeled the passenger seat of his truck for this.
The station includes a high-end gaming PC, a racing seat, custom pedals, a steering wheel, and several additional input devices such as stream decks and a widescreen monitor.
Everything is secured according to a Reddit comment from the user at two strong anchor points with several straps. Additionally, a bolt from the original passenger seat is supposed to secure the construct. Therefore, replicating the whole endeavor is not exactly easy.
Expensive, powerful, and power-hungry
What hardware does the sim enthusiast use? In a comment on another Reddit post, the trucker explains that his PC has a 14th generation Intel i9 processor and an RTX 5080. What other hardware and devices he uses exactly is not mentioned in the post.
A comparable high-end gaming PC costs between €2,500 and €3,500 if bought new (as of March 30, 2026 via Dubaro). Additional costs include the monitor, various input devices, racing seat, and steering wheel. Therefore, the total cost for the entire conversion likely amounts to over €6,000.
With such a setup, the enthusiast can even play demanding games like Cyberpunk 2077 at ultra settings in 4K resolution, without upscaling, at over 60 FPS (via YouTube).
Unlike another builder, who only powers his house with laptop batteries, that’s not all the trucker had to buy to implement his project. For the power supply, he had to go one step further.
How does the builder power his system? To make the gaming rig work on the road, he bought a generator, the trucker explains in a comment on Reddit. The system runs for about 2 hours on batteries before the generator automatically turns on to recharge them.
The high power consumption of the powerful system is no surprise, as the gaming PC with an RTX 5080 and an I9 14900 alone requires about 700 watts (via power supply calculator). This is in addition to the power requirements of the monitor and other input devices such as pedals, the steering wheel, peripherals, and other sim equipment.
