The Tropeognathus has been added with the release of the “Crystal Isles” map for the survival MMO ARK: Survival Evolved. We will tell you where to find the flying dino, how to tame it, and what admin commands are available.
This is the Tropeognathus: The Tropeo is the latest addition to the flying dinos in ARK: Survival Evolved. It corresponds to a real-life model from the early Cretaceous period and has a wingspan of about 8 meters. It has high stamina and glides slowly through the air, comparable to a Quetzal.
With its saddle, the Tropeo becomes a fighter jet, equipped with a cannon and a jet engine.

You can find the Tropeo here: The Tropeognathus is at home on the “Crystal Isles” map. It is rare but can be found in 3 areas:
It is best to stick to the waters during your search, as the Tropeo appears most frequently there.
These are the spawn commands: If you are the admin of your own server and don’t feel like searching for the Tropeo, you can use a spawn command. To do this, open the admin console:
- PC: Tab
- PS4: L1 + R1 + Square + Triangle
- Xbox One: LB + RB + X + Y
Now enter the following command:

Once you have found a Tropeo, it is not as easy to tame as other flying creatures. They can be passively tamed and cannot simply be knocked out.
This is what you need to tame it and how it works: The best method to tame is a ballista and chain bolas as projectiles. Shoot at the Tropeo, and it will become immobilized. Then you need to feed it either fish or, preferably, exceptional kibble.
This is the problem: The Tropeo only eats once and then is no longer hungry for a while. During that time, it breaks free of the chains and will attack. You must hit and capture it a second time with the chain bolas. If it eats exceptional kibble a second time, it is tamed in most cases. It takes longer with fish.
This is how you make exceptional kibble: To make the Tropeognathus’s favorite food, you need the following materials:
- 1 x Extra Large Egg
- 10 x Mejoberries
- 1 x Rare Flower
- 1 x Focal Chili
- 5 x Fiber
- 1 x Water
You make the kibble in a cooking pot or in an industrial cooker.
This is how you make the saddle: Although you don’t need a saddle to fly the successfully tamed Tropeognathus, it turns the Tropeo into a fighter jet. You can acquire the engram for it at level 65 for 21 points.
In the fabricator, you make the saddle as follows:
- 325 x Hide
- 450 x Fiber
- 250 x Polymer
- 600 x Metal Ingot
- 120 x Crystals
To fully utilize the Tropeognathus, you need gasoline and grenades, which you simply place into the creature’s inventory. Your personal fighter jet is ready. Another special feature is that the Tropeo serves as a mobile grinder. You can dismantle any item in its inventory by clicking it into parts. This way, the Tropeo can easily keep up with the 5 coolest flying dinos of 2020.
