In WoW Classic , the very old chat pranks from the early days of World of Warcraft are back. The popular Twitch streamer Pokimane seemed quite unsettled when a troll asked her: “Have you actually saved your game?”
This is what happened to Pokimane in WoW Classic: After about 8 hours of playing WoW Classic, Pokimane finally logged out and advised her friends not to level up without her.
But another streamer seemingly exclaimed in horror: “Hey, wait! Did you even save your game? Oh my God, you idiot, you didn’t save!”
Pokimane reacted quite unsettled by this. Although she replied that there was no need to save, as there was no save function, she didn’t seem very sure of her answer.
In her own stream, you can see Pokimane going through various stages between “You are trolling me” and “Oh my God, please tell me you’re just messing with me – I’m going to cry.”
The chat immediately played along and contributed to her uncertainty.
The delightful clip has now been viewed by 330,000 people, even though Pokimane eventually figured out the trolls, saying “I pressed Alt+F4 beforehand and it was totally fine.”

- For many, the prank is a “classic WoW initiation rite,” one they fell for themselves 15 years ago. Veterans even tell stories from their time as WoW noobs: “A friend thought when he dies in Warsong Gulch, his character is gone forever, so he just hid.”
- Many, however, complain that they haven’t received an invitation for the beta, even though they are WoW veterans, while streamers are now running around in WoW Classic who apparently have no idea what they are doing.
The interesting thing about the clip is: The beauty here is that for someone like Pokimane, WoW Classic is so “old” that it seems quite plausible that in this MMORPG, completely different, archaic rules apply – a mix of single-player and multiplayer.
It’s an online game where you would actually need to save. But that was just a joke to scare MMORPG beginners even 15 years ago.
Why is 2019 suddenly back to 2005? Currently, first stress tests for WoW Classic are taking place. The version of the MMORPG is turning the clock back and returns the MMORPG to its roughly vanilla state from 2005.
A player apparently thought: Well, maybe the old jokes from back then will work again.
