And also in the comments on reddit, some wish that in the future, even outside of such events, it would be great if catching could simply go faster. Thus, Axume4 can generally imagine a better catch rate and writes:
I know that people like the reasoning with the Ultra Balls, but the whole game would be significantly improved with higher catch rates. Think about it, you pay 100 coins for a raid. You throw 15 excellent throws and the thing jumps out and flees. Not to mention the time it takes to throw 15-20 balls and time them.
It is time for them to improve the catch rate or add a mechanic that improves it. Especially now, where experienced trainers raid solely for the XL candies. This means that there is no real reason to do the raid. There is no reason to continue demotivating players with an unreasonably low catch rate.

The trainer Dragunov1987 sees it similarly and would generally wish for an Ultra Ball system for the raids in the game. He explains on reddit that Niantic could even say that each player has a certain number of premium balls and a last ball as a kind of Master Ball, with which the capture would finally succeed.
Furthermore, he would think it would be nice to have rewards if you haven’t used all the balls while catching (via reddit.com).
A Master Ball is a special ball introduced in the Pokémon main series games Pokémon Red and Blue. It is the strongest ball in the game, as it guarantees a capture of a monster.
Why are Ultra Balls not suitable for that? Even though some trainers would welcome a general introduction of Ultra Balls, they are not necessarily useful for you in the game. They were specifically designed for better catching of Ultra Beasts. Catching other Pokémon is significantly harder with them.
To improve catching in raids for all monsters, one would need a different ball. The aforementioned Master Ball from Dragunov1987 would fundamentally be an option, but there is still none in Pokémon GO.
Another important wish of the trainers
However, better catch rates and the introduction of new balls is not the only thing trainers wish for in the game in the future. Also, the call for a “GO” button in the raid lobby is getting louder.
Trainers have been wishing for this for some time now. Especially in smaller raids, trainers play alone or only in a small group, as they are easy to handle. Nevertheless, they have to wait until the preparation time has expired, even though it is not foreseeable that more trainers want to join here. And exactly that feels like it takes forever.
The trainers are promising themselves that a corresponding button would allow them to start raids faster without having to wait for the preparation time. Target880 writes the following on reddit:
What they should do next is add a “I’m done with preparations” button for the lobby. It is quite pointless to wait for the timer to count down to zero when you are ready and no more people can join.
Add the option to skip raids at low levels up to at least level 1. I can understand that you shouldn’t take on raids of levels 4 and 5 without a full lobby, so you have a chance to join even if you haven’t planned it with others.
Some notifications you could choose from would also be nice. You already get notifications that there is a raid, so why not also one that people are in the lobby so that you can join.

Whether Niantic will introduce further features in the future that improve the game from the perspective of trainers like the Ultra Balls remains to be seen for the moment. However, if there are new updates, you will of course find out about them here at MeinMMO.
How did you like the Ultra Balls at the GO Fest finale? Do you also think there should generally be a better catch rate in the future? Or do you not believe that Niantic should change anything about the current system? Please feel free to share your opinion with us here at MeinMMO in the comments and exchange ideas with other trainers about it.
The new season is already on the starting blocks, but what to expect is not officially known yet. Trainers have now solved the latest riddle about the content and new Pokémon of the Season of Light.
In Pokémon GO the big closing event for the GO Fest 2022 took place on Saturday and introduced you to a new feature for capturing. The trainers of the reddit community are now drawing their resume and calling for further important changes. We at MeinMMO have taken a look at what it’s all about.
What new feature is it about? On August 27, 2022, this year’s GO Fest reached its grand finale. In addition to numerous spawns and bonuses, the Ultra Beasts Shabelle, Masskito, Voltriant, and Anego were also an important part of the event.
Unlike what you are usually accustomed to when catching in Pokémon GO, Niantic provided a new catching feature in the form of so-called Ultra Balls for the GO Fest finale. Now trainers on reddit are drawing a clear conclusion.
What are the Ultra Balls? Ultra Balls are special balls that make capturing Ultra Beasts easier. They were introduced for the first time in the Pokémon main games Sun and Moon and are 5 times more effective than regular balls concerning the Ultra Beasts. You can recognize them by their blue-yellow appearance.
Trainers say “The new balls were amazing”
What do trainers say about the new balls? If it is up to the trainers of the reddit community, the developers of Pokémon GO have hit a real home run. The reason for this praise is primarily the speed of catching.
The majority of these Ultra Beasts could be found in Level 5 raids, but you also had the opportunity to encounter them in the rewards for the special research “A Radiant Reunion”.
Why is quick catching so important? At such an event, even more Pokémon are in focus, which is why players want to continue playing quickly and not spend ages catching a single monster. Niantic definitely succeeded with the Ultra Balls here, as catching the Ultra Beasts became super easy and was really fast.
Thus, you didn’t necessarily need to use golden Razz Berries for catching, as you would usually do with legendary raid bosses, but could also use Nanab Berries without any problems to get more candies, and the beasts still remained in the ball.
Compared to the global GO Fest in June, catching Anego with the regular Premium Balls available to you after the raid took significantly longer and was also considerably more expensive concerning berries. This is also reflected in the players’ conclusions on reddit, who found many flattering words for the new balls (via reddit.com):
- glumada: “Catching Ultra Beasts – this is how a raid at a catching-oriented event should be. Me and everyone I know were very satisfied with how easy the UBs [Ultra Beasts] were to catch during the event. No more wasting time trying to catch a legendary Pokémon during a short event with high shiny chances.”
- TakahashiSato: “I agree with you, it was very nice to be able to catch quickly again, but it is simply part of the game that they are easier to catch with Ultra Balls. I am actually surprised that they gave them to us and it wasn’t just a visual thing.”
- Target880: “The new balls were amazing. During the event last summer, I spent more time catching legendary Pokémon after the raid than fighting during the raid, as you defeat them very quickly when 20 people are involved.”
- BCHiker7: “Yes, it was definitely the Ultra Balls. The base catch rate in the game for the beasts is 2%, just like with the Legendaries. So it was the Ultra Balls that made the difference. They even made sure that we got Ultra Balls in the special research.”
- MegiddoZO: “Anego was definitely not as easy to catch as it was with regular Premium Balls.”
After Niantic finally gave trainers an advantage in the raid, the voices are now also rising that more changes should follow. We will show you what reddit users wish for.
These important changes do trainers wish for
The introduction of Ultra Balls has shown many trainers how many Pokémon one can actually catch at such an event when the waiting times to continue playing are shorter and one can secure the monster faster.
Better catch rate: The speed in the game has been a huge topic with trainers for some time now. Recently, a reddit user pointed out that catching takes too long due to the animations, which ultimately has a negative effect on the spawns of the daily adventure smoke.
And also in the comments on reddit, some wish that in the future, even outside of such events, it would be great if catching could simply go faster. Thus, Axume4 can generally imagine a better catch rate and writes:
