In Pokémon GO there is currently a lot of stress about the new Egg Event. Trainers are even going so far as to call for a breeding machine boycott.
This is being criticized: Pokémon GO has announced an Egg Event featuring Fossil Pokémon. This is causing a lot of displeasure, as it is the next Egg Event in a very short time.
Many players want proper events again that do not only revolve around eggs.
Too many Egg Events in 2020
This has been calculated: A diligent player took the time to see how many days in 2020 we have already had an Egg Event.
A total of 48 out of 62 days this year have already been occupied with an Egg Event. For that, the events were looked at until March 3, as by then such events are already known, like the celebrations for Pokémon Day.

Players are angry: For many trainers, these are simply too many Egg Events. They wish for events that are not purely based on luck, like hatching eggs, but where players are rewarded for playing a lot.
Recently, Egg Events have been increasing while other events, which do not revolve around eggs, have decreased massively.
Here we show you statements from trainers:
- aznknight613: “They will only learn when trainers stop buying breeding machines, not only for this but also for the next future Egg Events
- wenigengel: “In my community, I’m gradually seeing that players (including myself) are overwhelmed by this approach, and I really believe that Niantic will destroy the game this year if they continue this trend, after they had the biggest revenues last year.”
- Exaskryz: “Just stop buying incubators. Use only the infinite one. And don’t even worry about hatching an egg every day. Just let it be. The data will eventually reach Niantic and they’ll realize they have squeezed too much out of this cash cow.”
- Revrush: “Please no more Egg Events, we want an event that is not based on RNG at all.”
However, there are also more prominent examples against such Egg Events. For instance, YouTuber Spieletrend discusses his own problems with the eggs in one of his latest videos:
This is what our author Noah says about it: I can fully understand the angry trainers. I myself decided a few weeks ago that I would spend significantly less or nothing at all on Pokémon GO.
The numerous Egg Events are just annoying, as one cannot gain an advantage through a lot of play. In the end, one has to spend a lot of money on breeding machines or just hatches maybe 2 to 3 eggs daily with the infinite breeding machine.
I can only hope that Niantic will respond to the much negative feedback from trainers and host fewer Egg Events in the near future.
Lastly, there was a dispute about a bug that Niantic removed, but which many players enjoyed using:
