The Rocket Boss Giovanni is currently demanding a lot from many trainers in Pokémon GO. However, one player has shown that there’s another way to achieve victory. Only using Pokémon up to 1500 CP and without a shield, he marches to victory.
Current status on Giovanni: You can finally challenge the Rocket Boss again after months of pause. This time, he uses Crypto-Suicune, which you can also catch.
The battle with Giovanni is currently one of the biggest challenges in the game. With the right counters, it is manageable, but it often makes you sweat.
One trainer has now proven the opposite. With a team of Super League Pokémon, meaning up to 1500 CP, he defeated Giovanni. He didn’t use a single shield. We’ll show you how that works.
Defeating Giovanni Easily – Here’s How
Here is the clip: The user ptargino uploaded the video on reddit. In 4 minutes, you can see how he takes down every Pokémon of Giovanni:
How did he achieve this? Although the trainer used what seems to be a weak team at first glance, it is actually quite strong in the Super League:
- Swampert
- Gengar
- Lucario
With Lucario, he almost completely eliminated Snorlax. The fast charge move Counter lured out both of Giovanni’s shields, and with the fast attack Counter, Snorlax was almost completely defeated.
Next came Dugtrio, and his Swampert entered the battle. Thanks to the Community Day move Hydro Cannon, Dugtrio was quickly defeated.
Suicune was then countered with Gengar. This Pokémon has a very fast charge move Leaf Blade. The battle was somewhat lengthy here, but with numerous Leaf Blades and some help from Swampert at the end, Suicune was also defeated.
What does the battle show? The trainer demonstrates that while one can certainly have a tough battle with Giovanni, effectiveness is crucial.
You don’t need Pokémon at maximum level. Even monsters with 1500 CP are sufficient.
If you are having trouble with Giovanni, try various Pokémon. You might find a monster that fits better.
If you don’t like Giovanni’s Pokémon combination, you can also just flee and challenge Giovanni at another time. He will have a different team then.
