In Pokémon GO, a trainer accidentally discovers a mysterious ribbon among wild monsters and wonders what it is all about. We at MeinMMO show you what it is and what it brings you.
Which monsters are involved? In Pokémon GO, you can not only encounter monsters in your immediate vicinity, but also use the Nearby
feature to see which specimens are at PokéStops in your area.
However, upon looking at this list, a trainer has noticed a mysterious ribbon that he had never seen before. Rightly, he wonders what it is all about. We have summarized exactly that for you below.
The ribbon is an important new feature
What exactly did the trainer discover? Usually, when looking at the list of monsters nearby, nothing extraordinary can be found. However, the Reddit user associategrean shows a picture in his post, where you can see a small ribbon, a kind of medal, next to the display of a Carnivine.
He writes (via reddit.com): What does the little ribbon (?) next to the Pokémon nearby mean? I’ve never seen it and couldn’t find any posts/comments about it.
What does the ribbon mean? Although trainers in the comments have various funny explanations for the little ribbon, it actually has a very important function that has only recently been added to the game.
It will be shown to you for the monsters in the Nearby
feature that you still need to complete your collector challenge. This way, you can immediately recognize that you still need this Pokémon and, ideally, catch it at the displayed location.
Since Carnivine is part of the collector challenge for the Dark Flames
event, it was displayed to the trainer accordingly. So the symbol actually shows no ribbon, but a medal that you can receive upon completing the challenge.
Why is this useful? There are always collector challenges in Pokémon GO. In these, you need to catch specific monsters to be able to complete them. This is currently the case during the Dark Flames
event.
In the past, trainers have often criticized that they could not find the needed monsters. The new symbol is meant to make it easier for you. So if a monster simply does not appear on the map, it is definitely worth checking out the Nearby
feature. You can find this at the bottom right of the screen.
What do you think of the new feature? Does it help you in the search for the monsters for the collector challenge? Or do you find such a function rather unnecessary? Let us know here at MeinMMO in the comments.
Another change caused quite a bit of frustration among trainers in recent days. Niantic now explains why they have reduced the spawn radius again.
