Last night, on February 18, the 3rd Spotlight Hour took place. It was a great success and many trainers wish for such spawns to be permanent for Pokémon GO.
This was the Spotlight Hour: Initially, the announcement caused some confusion, as there was no specific Pokémon in the spotlight. Instead, Niantic simply made all Pokémon spawn in significantly higher numbers.
In the end, it turned out that the event was received quite well, and many players wish for such events in the future.
Trainers rave about the Spotlight Hour
This is being praised: When at 6 PM local time suddenly all spawn points in the game were activated, trainers were quite amazed. There were Pokémon to catch everywhere, and they were quite diverse as well. Just the sheer number of spawns was well received by trainers.
The large variety of Pokémon was also a significant plus. Many locations had Pokémon that had not been seen for weeks.
This is what players wish for: Trainer jettehhawk summarizes the core idea of many players well on reddit. He says that the Spotlight Hour is how Pokémon GO should actually be. He also adds:
“So far, in Melbourne, only half of the Spotlight Hour is over, but due to the sheer number of Pokémon that appeared, it seems to bring much more variety. Just in this short time, I have seen unusual and rare spawns nearby that I haven’t encountered in months.
This makes me think about how Pokémon GO was before the spawn change and how much more fun it is to play this way. Don’t get me wrong, there are still plenty of common Pokémon, but there is more incentive to go exploring when it is like this.”
There is a lot of support under this thread, and other trainers also wish for such times to return.
Indeed, at the beginning of the game, there was even more diversity in the spawns. Now, the weather often determines what appears in the vicinity. Extraordinary spawns are hard to find.
This is how spawns could be maintained: Other trainers have specific suggestions on how to incorporate the amount of spawns into other activities in the game. For example, RBlaikie suggests that such a number of spawns should appear at least in parks. After all, Niantic keeps saying that players should play more in parks. There, nest Pokémon could then appear more frequently.
Trainer Shadowadra thinks that such spawn rates should at least be present on Community Days. While spawns are always slightly increased there, it is not as extreme as it was during the Spotlight Hour.
How did you find the Spotlight Hour? Would you like to see such spawns more often in the future? Another event is currently generating a lot of discussion:
