A trailer for Pokémon Legends Z-A showcases a mega-monster in an unusually dark setting. The community is excited.
On October 16, 2025, Pokémon Legends Z-A will be released, the next Pokémon game for Nintendo Switch 1 and 2. In addition to a new battle system, the game also introduces new mega-evolutions.
A recently released new trailer for the game shows one of the mega-evolutions in a setting that feels rather unusual for Pokémon games. The community is thrilled about it.
“Resident Evil meets Pokémon”
What kind of trailer is this? The nearly 3-minute trailer is titled “The Case of the Sweet Scent Incident,” which can be translated as “The Case of the Sweet Scent Incident.” The trailer is done in the so-called “found footage” style.
This means it appears as though one has found a recording by a person who has shot their own video. Film enthusiasts may recognize this style from works such as the Blair Witch Project or the Paranormal Activity series.
In the creepy trailer, we see how the protagonists navigate through an abandoned house. In the last third of the trailer, a Pokémon appears that will be available for the first time as a mega-monster in Pokémon Legends Z-A: Mega-Sarzenia.

How is the trailer received by the community? The trailer generates many positive comments under the video itself and on Reddit. Some players would be excited to play a Pokémon title in such an atmosphere.
