This week was marked by updates in the MMORPGs. Many new patches came out, were announced, or will happen soon. What else has happened, you’ll find out here in the weekly review from MeinMMO.
The highlights of the week:
- The hardcore MMORPG Mortal Online 2 responds to a fan request and is migrating the entire game to a new engine via an update.
- In Elder Scrolls Online, the next DLC “Firesong” has been announced. It is set to release in November and will conclude the story around the legacy of the Bretons.
- The anime MMORPG Tower of Fantasy gives a glimpse of upcoming story content in a new trailer.
The hot topic of the week: Last week, the sandbox MMORPG Fractured Online entered early access, but the launch was anything but smooth. However, the developers are patching almost daily and improving the MMORPG (via massivelyop).
The discussion of the week: For WoW Classic, the popular expansion Wrath of the Lich King is set to be released next week. We wanted to know from you – Will you play it?
A new trailer also prepares you for “Wrath of the Lich King Classic”.
Guild Wars 2 has balancing issues and Wizard101 was taken over by a hacker
This is what happened with the big MMORPGs:
- Lost Ark is releasing its big September update next week with a new class and a new raid. As a preparation, you can now claim free items with Prime.
- Guild Wars 2 is currently struggling with a balancing issue. The Mechanist class is dominating the MMORPG in a nearly absurd way.
- You can currently grab Black Desert for just 99 cents, if you have always wanted to try the MMORPG.
- In New World, due to a bug that allowed item duplication, player-to-player trading was disabled for several days. However, everything is back to normal now (via MMORPG.com).
This is what happened with the small MMORPGs:
- The medieval MMORPG Gloria Victis is still in early access but has received a large graphics update.
- The “MMORPG for children” Wizard101 had a significant issue. It was alleged that an employee spread hateful system messages there. However, the developer has since confirmed that the misery was due to a hacker from outside the company (via massivelyop).
- TemTem is getting its first major update after launch, adjusting both balancing and the controversial battle pass (via massivelyop).
- Aion Classic is not only becoming cheaper but also easier. The update for this is expected to appear shortly (via massivelyop).
- In the monster MMORPG Chimeraland, you will soon be able to build houses underwater. Additionally, there will be blueprints to share so you won’t have to create everything yourself (via mmorpg.com).
- The German MMORPG Tibia has been around for 25 years. Now the game is finally getting sound through a major update. Until now, there were hardly any sounds in the game.
The medieval MMORPG Gloria Victis receives new graphics and a cool trailer.
Throne and Liberty launches with the latest technology
This is what happened with the MMORPGs in development:
- The PvE hope Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen is bringing extensive changes. This includes improvements to the character models (via mmorpg.com).
- The retro MMORPG Mad World is concluding its current beta phase and is sharing a new gameplay video in this process (via massivelyop).
- The indie MMORPG Mythic focuses on roguelike elements and is set to release next week on Steam.
- The big hope Throne and Liberty is supported by Nvidia’s latest technology DLSS 3.0. The graphics card manufacturer confirmed this in a preview (via nvidia.com).
