On August 11, the new anime MMORPG Tower of Fantasy was released. Since that day, the game has conquered Twitch and is currently the most watched MMORPG. It even surpasses Fortnite. We at MeinMMO summarize.
What is Tower of Fantasy? The new anime MMORPG is a gacha title that was freshly released on August 11 in the West. The game undoubtedly takes the successful hit Genshin Impact as a model and aims to transform the gameplay into a true MMORPG.
This means that you share your game world with other players at all times and are accompanied by corresponding masses of fans in your gaming experience. You can do this not only in the game but also on Twitch. There, Tower of Fantasy is currently celebrating huge successes.
Tower of Fantasy is the largest MMORPG: Although there are no official player numbers yet for this anime success, the numbers on Twitch look promising for the title. Of course, interest in a game at launch is always slightly higher, yet the MMORPG holds its own well.
As of now, on August 15, it ranks 10th among the largest Twitch categories. This makes it not only the largest MMORPG ahead of World of Warcraft and Lost Ark, but it also surpasses all-time hits like Fortnite, CoD Warzone, and CS:GO.
Even the new cult game Cult of the Lamb cannot match the success of Tower of Fantasy.

Who is still ahead of the MMORPG? The undisputed number 1 on Twitch remains the “Just Chatting” category. According to sullygnome, 888,038 viewers have watched a total of 58 million hours in this category over the past seven days.
Next up are GTA 5, League of Legends, and Valorant, all of which are around 30 million viewed hours. Rust, Dota 2, Minecraft, and Apex lie between 15 and 22 million.
In 9th place, just before Tower of Fantasy, is the gambling category Slots. Although only 156,583 people watched here, they did so for a whopping 10 million hours.
Tower of Fantasy in numbers: Tower of Fantasy stands in 10th place, delivering impressive numbers. 38,776 streamers showcased the game on their channels over the past 7 days, with 276,098 viewers tuning in. Together they watched 89,824 million hours of the MMORPG.
This puts it just 20,000 hours ahead of Fortnite. However, it can beat competitors like Warzone and CS:GO by over a million hours.
Will it stay that way? That is rather unlikely. It is normal for new titles on Twitch to initially go through the roof. People want to check out the new game and get a sense of Tower of Fantasy. Perhaps they also play themselves and want to see what other players are doing.
Just as it is perfectly normal for games to lose players over time, Tower of Fantasy will also lose Twitch viewers. Lost Ark was even the largest category on Twitch at its launch, even ahead of Just Chatting. Currently, the MMORPG is in 26th place, in just half a year.
It remains to be seen where Tower of Fantasy can position itself in the long run. What do you think of the title so far? Have you played it or watched it on Twitch? Feel free to let us know in the comments here on MeinMMO.
