On February 4th, Sega and Creative Assembly announced the strategy game Total War: Warhammer 3. And today it is the best-selling game on Steam. How is that?
What is Total War: Warhammer 3? The strategy game represents the finale of a trilogy that began in May 2016. It is a classic Total War game where you control one of several factions on a campaign map, conquering territories, attacking armies, and completing mission objectives. Actions on the map take place in turns, but the battles are fought in real time.
The trilogy is based, just like the Mobile MMORPG Warhammer: Odyssey, on the Warhammer scenario by Games Workshop, which is particularly known through the board games and immerses players in a dark fantasy world filled with orcs and demons.
And it is exactly the demons that play a big role in Total War: Warhammer 3. The new installment focuses on the realms of Chaos and factions that belong to the Chaos gods Khorne, Nurgle, Slaanesh, and Tzeentch. The action takes place this time in the eastern lands of Kislev and Cathay. The game introduces a new, huge map.
Hardly announced, Total War: Warhammer 3 is already in 1st place on the charts
Why is it already the top seller? Hardly was Total War: Warhammer 3 announced with an epic trailer, it climbed to 1st place on the best-selling Steam games. As of February 4th, 10:30 am, it is still there. The list consists of titles that generate the most revenue in an unspecified time frame.
There are several reasons for this success:
- Warhammer has a large fanbase that has been eagerly waiting for part 3 and the finale of the trilogy.
- The three games can be combined into a huge world map where you can play. This makes it very interesting for strategists.
- Probably the most important reason is that pre-order customers receive an additional race as a playable faction. These races are highly sought after in all Total War games. Although it is not yet known which race it is, fans must add it to their collection.
What do players say about the trailer? Although no gameplay has been shown yet, the announcement trailer makes you excited for the strategy game. As of now, it has been viewed on Youtube 1,128,651 times and has 76,915 thumbs up and 1,109 negative reviews (as of February 4th at 10:30 am).

When will the game be released? The release of Total War: Warhammer 3 is planned for later this year on Steam and the Epic Games Store. A specific date has not yet been announced.
