Creative Assembly has announced the Open Beta of the online spin-off Total War: Arena, which features the commander Hannibal.
The Total War series typically offers an exciting single-player campaign as well as the opportunity to compete against other players in multiplayer. This is the case in Warhammer: Total War or the upcoming games Total War Saga: Thrones of Britannia and Total War: Three Kingdoms. However, with the online spin-off Total War: Arena, the developers focus solely on tactical online battles.

Open Beta with New Content
The game is still in development, and a release date is not yet known. However, the date for the Open Beta is. From February 22, you can dive into the massive battles where 10 players face off against 10 opponents and lead huge armies into war.
In this, you take on the role of powerful commanders from history such as Leonidas, Julius Caesar, Queen Boudicca of Britain. Or you lead wild barbarian tribes. In the tactical real-time battles, you can advance only with a good strategy.
With the start of the Open Beta, you can look forward to a range of new features. These include:
- Hannibal as the new commander of Carthage
- Hannibal’s brother Hasdrubal as another general
- 30 new units
- 21 consumables
- War elephants that can trample opponents and break formations
- New map: Teutoburg Forest
- New ability: Force March, to quickly advance your troops
- New ability: Determination, which allows your troops to ignore slowing effects from certain terrains
- New ability: Ad Portas, which strengthens your troops when they stay in one place for a longer time
Further details about the Open Beta of Total War: Arena will be announced by the developers before the launch.
Total War: Arena can be described gameplay-wise as a mix of World of Tanks and Total War.
