Perfect World apparently wants to build on the popularity of Torchlight and Torchlight 2. With Torchlight Frontiers, the company has now announced another installment that could even become an MMO-ARPG for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
Perfect World has announced a sequel to Torchlight. However, the continuation of the action RPG will be a multiplayer title for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
Torchlight Frontiers is coming
The new Torchlight game will be called Torchlight Frontiers. It will be a “Shared-World Action-RPG”, so a kind of “Diablo-like MMO”. Players can explore the world together with friends and their pets in classic Torchlight fashion.
Developed by veterans: Torchlight Frontiers is being developed by Echtra Games under the leadership of Max Schaefer, the co-founder of Blizzard North and Runic Games. The development team consists of veterans of the ARPG genre.
The developers have previously worked on ARPG classics like Diablo and the original Torchlight titles.

Will it really be an MMO? Schaefer, together with Tyler Thompson, the project leader of Diablo: Lord of Destruction, and David Glenn (Diablo 1 and 2) has already worked on an MMO project in 2016. However, Perfect World closed the Runic Games studio before completion.
In the current statement, the company does not specifically mention “MMO”, but at least states that players will be able to share and play together in the dynamically generated world. The ARPG is likely to classify as an MMO.

Torchlight Frontiers is coming for PC, PS4, Xbox One – But when?
All platforms, no release date yet: According to the report, Torchlight Frontiers will be released for all current platforms: PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. However, it is still unknown when exactly it will be released.
Further information on Torchlight Frontiers will be provided at a later date.
