Fortnite: Battle Royale had an extremely successful and popular streamer in Ninja during 2017 and 2018. However, in 2020, the professional streamer became quiet and eventually turned his back on the game. Yet, there have been recurring rumors about the return of the blue-haired young man. But a recent statement gives little hope for a comeback anytime soon.
What did Ninja say about a comeback? Tyler “Ninja” Blevins hasn’t played Fortnite for a while. The young man with colorful hair was once a legend who streamed top-notch Fortnite content for hours every day and was incredibly successful.
Currently, Ninja plays other games, such as LoL, or most recently Final Fantasy XI. During that round, he was asked: “Will you ever return to competitive Fortnite?”
However, the answer was disappointing. After a brief moment of contemplation, Ninja replied:
“It’s unlikely that I’ll return. Only when it makes sense again.”
He further elaborated:
“Seriously, I really don’t want to get pulled back into that competitive crap.”
Incredibly successful Fortnite streamer is no longer interested in Fortnite
Ninja was that good: At his peak, Ninja achieved massive success with Fortnite:
- In 2018, he averaged 77,719 viewers
- Highlights such as the legendary stream with rapper Drake attracted up to 617,767 people to their screens
- On Twitch, he had 269,154 subscribers, which brought him money, arecord that was only broken in 2021
Recently, Ninja also announced that he earned around 10 million US dollars in 2018.
But those times are over for now. Ninja hasn’t had the same success outside of Fortnite as he did at his peak in Epic’s Battle Royale. On average, around 11,000 viewers watch him. That’s only one-seventh of the previous figures. But since he no longer has to stream for money, he can finally play what he enjoys. And at least for now, that is not Fortnite.
Other top Fortnite players are also losing interest in the game. The pro gamer Williams “Zayt” Aubin has had enough of the colorful Battle Royale and can hardly force himself to play anymore. After a break from the game, he can no longer return and has had enough.
