In Revelation Online, the guild Impact is one of the most successful player groups. But what is their secret to success? What do they like about Revelation Online and what is still a problem? We asked some members and the community manager of Impact.
Attentive readers of Mein-MMO might remember the guild Impact from another game besides Revelation Online. The guild made headlines in October 2014, when they became the first western guild to build a large Black-Pearl pirate ship in the sandbox MMO ArcheAge.
Meanwhile, Impact also maintains a thriving section in Revelation Online and even though there are no Black Pearls or similar milestones, the guild was for a long time number 1 in Revelation Online until they were recently pushed to second place by an international guild. Reason enough for us to pay a visit to the friendly guild again and invite them for an interview.
Interview with Impact – Part 1 – Why Revelation Online?
For our interview, we were able to win community manager “Lotusstorm”, who shared our questions with many guild members. We have summarized the collected feedback in the following answers. In the first part of the interview, it is about the game itself, why the guild enjoys it so much, and what is currently annoying them.
Why do you play Revelation Online? What attracts you to the game?
- There is incredibly much to do and it never gets boring.
- Many players also like the Asian style of the game.
What are the major advantages of Revelation Online?
- The strong focus on groups and guilds, the dynamic combat system, and the well-made events, especially in PvP.
What could be improved in Revelation Online?
- The support is a problem, there is no live chat and only a slow ticket system. A solution can sometimes take weeks.
- The terms of service are vaguely worded, leading to frequent discrepancies. For example, when GMs claim a player misbehaved, even though this was not clear. For instance, account sharing is stated in the terms of service as both allowed and forbidden. Therefore, much depends on the discretion of the GMs as to whether something gets punished or not.
- The cash shop is said by some respondents to be too close to pay-to-win since it allows for very rapid progress. It would be better if you could only buy cosmetic items in the shop.
- The report system, which allows you to report rude players and bots, does not work.
- The poor translation still bothers many, the German version is highly anticipated.
- Many bugs are constantly carried over from patch to patch

Some players consider Revelation Online to be a soulless Asian import, where you are GPS-guided through the landscape via quests. What would you counter to that?
- The quest GPS often saves you from looking at external guides. It is a useful comfort feature that is especially popular with PvP players, as they want to spend the minimal amount of time in PvE. Additionally, you can easily grab something to eat or drink while the hero runs to the destination.
Does Revelation Online offer sufficient content for guilds in the endgame?
- The endgame with level 79 was not yet unlocked at the time of the interview. However, there is plenty to do and many activities are only available for guilds. For example, guild boss raids or guild events from Thursday to Saturday.

Interview with Impact – Part 2 – What makes you unique as a guild?
In the second part of the interview, it is about the guild Impact itself and what makes them special in the eyes of the members. There is also interesting information about how the guild deals with problematic members.
How many active players are you? How many are usually available on an evening? How many women play with you?
- Impact has 110 members in the Revelation Online section, about 50 players are active every evening.
- The percentage of women is between 15 and 20 percent.
Would you consider yourselves a casual or pro guild? What do you have to do to join?
- The guild is semi-pro, semi-casual, and progress-oriented.
- You need to be level 69, and there is an interview that decides on admission.
- Active participation in guild events is required for continued membership.
How do you promote players within the guild and what are the tasks, rights, and responsibilities of officers?
- Impact has lean hierarchies in Revelation Online. There is the guild lead, co-lead, 2 PvP raid leaders, and 2 recruiters.
- If a member stands out, they are approached to see if they are interested in a promotion.
How did you become the “number 1” guild in Revelation Online? How much time do you spend on the community and the game?
- Hard work, teamwork, and the good atmosphere in the guild led to success.
- Most active players spend 3-5 hours in the game daily, some even up to 11.
- On weekends, many play more often and longer than during the week.
Do you regularly organize raids, mass PvP, or other guild events?
- There is a 20-minute raid for the guild bosses every day.
- On Thursdays, there is a one-hour PvP event.
- On Fridays, the weekly guild tournament takes place for 2 hours.
- On Saturdays, there is territorial war for 2.5 to 3 hours, and a small fun event also takes place.
How difficult is it to organize such actions? How do you deal with absent players or those who are stubborn, selfish or not constructive?
- After 3 days of absence, one should sign out in the forum, but can also ask a guild member to do so.
- Real life takes priority, but you should attend about 60% of guild events.
- Those who do not sign out and do not provide good reasons can expect to be kicked in the long run.

How does a typical raid work for you? How do you distribute loot at the end?
- Raids are agreed upon 30 minutes in advance.
- The loot distribution usually runs automatically.
- However, there are also guild competitions where deserving players can earn additional in-game currency organized by the guild.
Is there a voice chat requirement in the guild?
- Yes, there is a Teamspeak requirement for all guild actions.
So much for Impact in Revelation Online. Impact as a multi-gaming guild also has sections in other MMOs like Ark or Conan Exiles. For the latter, there is even a dedicated RP-PvP server called “Tarantia Wilderness“.
