The new figures from SuperData show a deep collapse of Destiny 2 on consoles. The online shooter completely falls from rank 1 out of the top 10. Meanwhile, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 takes the lead.
The market research institute SuperData has announced the figures for games on PC, consoles, and mobile games that generated the most revenue in October through digital sales. Digital means that boxed versions do not play a role.
The leaders of the month meet expectations: Rockstar Games’ Red Dead Redemption 2 made a very strong debut and the new Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 also registered enormous successes, as expected.
- 4 million units of Red Dead Redemption 2 were sold in less than a week.
- The revenue from Fortnite is 20 times higher than it was in October.
- Players spent over one billion dollars on digital game downloads.
CoD enters in mid position
Little change in the PC charts: Compared to September, nothing has changed in the top four positions of the PC charts. Dungeon Fighter Online (1), League of Legends (2), Crossfire (3), and Fantasy Westward Journey Online 2 (4) remain in the top ranks. World of Warcraft had to give up position 5 to Fortnite and now finds itself in position 7.
Position 6 is taken by the newly entered CoD: Black Ops 4, which has not launched quite as strongly on PC as on consoles (see below). Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) drops from position 6 to place 8. World of Tanks holds at rank 9 and Assassin’s Creed Odyssey enters at position 10.
No Destiny in the console charts anymore
Destiny 2 crashes: Much more has happened in the charts of console games than on PC. The most noticeable change is that Destiny 2 has completely fallen from position 1 last month in the charts. Apparently, fans have exhausted the content of the Forsaken expansion and moved on. The new leader is Call of Duty: Black Ops 4.
The very successful PS4-exclusive Marvel’s Spider-Man drops from rank 2 to position 7. Red Dead Redemption enters at place 2, which was also expected given how much Rockstar fans have been waiting for the western epic. Position 3 is occupied by Fortnite, which was in 4th place in September. This position is now taken by FIFA 19, which has fallen one place from September.
In position 5 we find Assassin’s Creed Odyssey and NBA 2K19 drops from rank 5 to place 6. FIFA 18 falls from position 6 to place 8 and Call of Duty: WW2 is at rank 9 this time. The bottom line is Forza Horizon 4. PUBG has fallen out of the console charts. Once again, Blizzard’s Overwatch is not included.
Knives Out drops on mobile devices
A PUBG clone loses: In the charts of mobile games, we find the usual suspects such as Honor of Kings, Candy Crush Saga, Clash Clans, and Pokemon GO. The positions have changed slightly, but the well-known games still hold their places in the charts.
Interestingly, the PUBG clone Knives Out has fallen from rank 4 last month to position 10. A newcomer in October is Toon Blast, a typical mobile puzzle game. We have to say goodbye to Fantasy Westward Journey this month.
