SuperData announces again which games generated the most revenue on PC, PS4, Xbox One, and smartphones in May. Notable here are Fortnite, FIFA 18, Destiny 2, and also Detroit: Become Human.
Digital sales are important. SuperData reports every month on which games achieve the most revenue from digital sales for developers and publishers. The growth potential of these revenues is demonstrated by Fortnite, which according to SuperData generated approximately 318 million dollars for Epic Games in May across all platforms. This marks a 7 percent increase in revenue compared to April.
DOTA 2 returns to PC, Hearthstone drops out
The top games on PC. The top games on PC show little movement compared to April. However, it is interesting that DOTA 2 has re-entered the top 10 at position 6. In contrast, Blizzard’s online card game Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft has dropped out of the list. Fortnite continues to hold strong at rank 5, just like PUBG at position 9.
The Football World Cup improves FIFA 18’s ranking on PS4 and Xbox One
FIFA 18 rises, Destiny 2 returns. At position 1, Fortnite remains steadfast on consoles. The ongoing Football World Cup and the large World Cup update ensure that FIFA 18 can not only maintain its position in the rankings but also rises to position 2.
Newly entering at rank 6 is the action-adventure Detroit: Become Human, while Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands has fallen off the list. Destiny 2 celebrates its return at position 9. Meanwhile, Battlefield 1 drops out as support for the online shooter is gradually being phased out. Also returning is Blizzard’s online shooter Overwatch at rank 8.
Little movement in other ranks. GTA 5 rises from position 6 to 4, and Call of Duty: WW2 gains a rank to now sit at position 3. Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege remains at position 7. NBA 2K18 drops to the bottom of the list.
Good weather benefits Pokémon GO
In mobile games, Pokémon GO stands out, likely due to the good weather, becoming more frequently played again. The mobile game climbs to position 4. The mobile battle royale game Knives Out is new to the list and enters directly at position 5. Meanwhile, the “LoL mobile” variant, Honour of Kings, continues to hold the first place.
