Tonight, on October 23 to October 24, the big Halloween event starts in Pokémon GO. Numerous ghost Pokémon and other spooky bonuses await you.
When does the Halloween event run? It starts on October 24 at 3:00 AM. So we won’t be able to hunt ghosts this evening, but it can kick off early in the morning.
The event lasts a whole 2 weeks and ends on November 4 at 3:00 AM.
This year, there’s a lot happening for Halloween. There are new costumed Pokémon, a new shiny, and a special research.

These are the bonuses: The list is particularly long this time, and you’ll encounter a ton of bonuses. These include:
- Double candy for sending and catching Pokémon
- Ghost Pokémon will appear more frequently in raids, eggs, and the wild
- Sableye will appear in the wild and in eggs in its costume – Gengar will only appear in raids in its costume
- Galarian Yamask will make its debut. You’ll receive a special research centered around this Pokémon
- Special quests will include Spiritomb – It will also make its debut as a shiny
- Gengar will be available in level 5 raids.
- The in-game shop will feature Halloween outfits for your avatar.
Which Pokémon can you expect? There are plenty of ghost Pokémon in Pokémon GO, and typically all appear during Halloween.
Drifloon, Shuppet, Litwick, and Gastly are just a few of the possible Pokémon. The good news: Almost all ghosts can also be shiny. It’s a paradise for shiny hunters.
New ghost Pokémon might also be coming to the game.
You should definitely take advantage of this: The Spiritomb quests should definitely be completed. After all, Spiritomb does not appear in the wild and will be a damn rare shiny after Halloween. So take the chance and try to complete as many quests as possible.
Is Darkrai worth it? The return of Darkrai in level 5 raids is a real blessing. Darkrai is the best dark attacker in Pokémon GO and should not be missing from any team.
So far, it’s unclear whether Darkrai can learn a special move. Dataminers have already found Darkrai’s special move, Sleepy Time, but it hasn’t been announced yet.
This Sunday starts off well: You should keep this Sunday, October 25, free. Between 8:00 AM and 10:00 PM German time, there will be a ghost challenge.
There, you’ll be rewarded for good throws and ghosts are supposed to appear even more frequently in the wild. So it’s a good time to go shiny hunting.
