On April 29, the online shooter Star Wars: Battlefront 2 will receive its final update. As the vision of the game is now complete, the developers want to focus entirely on a new Battlefield.
When is the Battlefront 2 update coming? The Battle for Scarif is scheduled to be rolled out today, April 29, at 11 AM across all platforms – PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
What exactly is included in the last update of Battlefront 2? There are a number of new features related to the Age of Rebellion.
- The “The Battle of Scarif” update introduces the planet Scarif from the movie Rogue One: A Star Wars Story into the modes Supremacy, Co-Op, and Instant Action.
- Also included are Hoth, Death Star II, Tatooine, and Yavin 4.
- Additionally, the planet Crait will be added to the Heroes Vs. Villains mode.
- New skins for some heroes and enemies are also part of the update.
- There will also be balancing optimizations.
These are exciting new features for a game that has undergone significant development over the past few years. Only at the end of 2019 did an update related to the movie Star Wars: Episode 9 – The Rise of Skywalker lead to a significant increase in player numbers.
Is this really the final update? According to Dennis Brännvall, Creative Director at the developer studio DICE, today’s Scarif update is indeed the final one. While there will still be events such as double XP, no new content is planned.
The blog post is titled “After more than 2 years of free content, the vision for Star Wars Battlefront 2 is now complete.”
As the game continues to live on with the community and players, we hope to hear many exciting stories from you for years to come.

This means that essentially DICE is handing the game over to the players, who are meant to experience their own stories with the existing content. In this way, Star Wars: Battlefront 2 is expected to run for many years.
Battlefield moves into focus – likely no Battlefront 3
What comes after Battlefront 2? The team is now focusing on the development of the next game in the Battlefield series. Dennis Brännvall revealed to PCGamesN at gamescom last year that there are no plans for a Battlefront 3.
Sequels are of course still viable, or else we wouldn’t make them. But there isn’t the same demand for them as before.

Dennis Brännvall mentioned that the team is now focusing on a new Battlefield.
In the long run, the studio is focusing on the future of Battlefield, which we will bring to players in 2021.

What do players think? The community is sad about the end, but also grateful to the developers for a wonderful time.
- crimsonbub on reddit says: “It’s disappointing to have come this far and now they seem to be dropping updates. It doesn’t mean we won’t get anything anymore, but it won’t be the same.”
- BigFish1293 thanks the developers on reddit: “Thank you to the team that revived this game and brought it to such a high standard. Even though we didn’t get Ahsoka, I’ll accept what we have.”
- suicideinredditform is on reddit sad: “I just feel kind of weird, kind of abandoned, like I didn’t really appreciate the game at this point. It feels really strange and I don’t know why I feel this way, since it probably won’t die that quickly.”
