A new event starts in World of Warcraft. Several bosses attack at the same time – can you withstand this pressure?
If World of Warcraft excels in a particular area, it is in the design of exciting dungeon and raid bosses. Other MMORPGs often envy this. The developers have apparently recognized this strength and thought: how about a new game mode that focuses on bosses?
That is exactly the event “Cunning Duos,” which is playable from today (June 4, 2025).
Where can you participate in Cunning Duos? Registration for Cunning Duos is possible in several locations. Primarily in the current capital Dornogal, but you can also join from Stormwind or Orgrimmar.
How does it work? In a large arena, you can face bosses with your group – multiple at the same time. Two (or more) bosses want to make your life hell at the same time, so you need to coordinate overlapping boss mechanics while beating the bosses’ health points down to 0.
Depending on how quickly and flawlessly you played, there will be a score at the end that you can boast about in front of other characters.
At the beginning, there are 4 different bosses, but as the event progresses, more will be unlocked, so in the end, there will be a pool of a total of 10 bosses who will give you a hard time. The bosses include:
- Baron Silverlaine (Shadowfang Keep)
- Broggok (Blood Furnace)
- Chrono-Lord Epoch (Stratholme’s Redemption)
- Foe Reaper 5000 (Death Mines)
- Glubtok (Death Mines)
- Hydromancer Thespia (Steam Vault)
- Lord Walden (Shadowfang Keep)
- Makgineer Steamrigger (Steam Vault)
- Rattlegore (Scholomance)
- Watchkeeper Garlgomar (Hellfire Citadel)
Besides the bosses, there are some additional effects. You will find bombs in the arena that you can throw at enemies. If you defeat them with it, you will get bonus points for your score.
Even though the event visually resembles the combat guild, you are with your own group in a separate area. So you don’t have to be nervous because other heroes are constantly watching you – you have the whole space to yourself and can be defeated in the most embarrassing ways as often as you want without being exposed to the shame of the server afterwards.
What rewards are there? As this event is primarily a fun event, the rewards are also mainly cosmetic in nature. During the event weeks, there are big quests for which completing them unlocks a toy, a pet, and a mount. Especially the podium toy is interesting because you can upgrade it to show your average item level.
How long does Cunning Duos last? The event is only temporary and lasts for a duration of 6 weeks. This means that you can try to chase a high score until July 15. This also means that during the event, the next patch 11.1.7 will be released, which will bring some new features and special aspects.
