On May 27th, the online RPG Phantasy Star Online 2 (PSO 2) launches for PC. We’ll tell you everything you need to know about the launch.
Update 3:45 PM: The servers are now online and you can play Phantasy Star Online 2 on PC if you downloaded it from the Microsoft Store.
When is the release of PSO 2? The online role-playing game launches on PC on May 27th around 2 PM. However, the exact time depends on how long the server maintenance takes before the launch. So it might start a little later.
What about the preload? Phantasy Star Online 2 is not yet available in the Microsoft Store for PC. The preload only started today, May 27th at 8 AM.
Then the game should appear as a free-to-play title in the Microsoft Store and can be downloaded.
However, the servers are only available at launch, and you can only start then.
How large is the download? The size of the download for the PC version is currently not known. On Xbox One, however, PSO 2 is 72.4 GB.
Can players outside the USA and Canada join? According to the developers there is no region lock. The Xbox One version can be played here as well. However, you need to create a US account.
This should also be the case for the PC version. However, you need to change the Microsoft Store to the US. Here’s how:
- Select in Windows 10 Start > Settings > Time & Language > Region .
- Then select the new region under Country or Region in this case US. It is possible to change this selection at any time.
Now search for PSO 2 in the store and download the online RPG after the preload starts on May 27th at 8 AM.
What is PSO 2 anyway? Phantasy Star Online 2 is not a classic MMORPG. You are on adventures with selected friends in instances and experience adventures on multiple planets, which have MMO-like tasks.
The scenario is a mix of fantasy and science fiction. In battles, you fight against enemies using an active, action-packed system. You can utilize the abilities of 9 different classes. It is possible to change classes at any time.
Phantasy Star Online 2 was released in Japan in 2012 and has finally made its way to the West – at least to the USA and Canada.
