All information about the Rocket takeover
These bonuses are available: You can benefit from numerous bonuses that are temporarily available around Team Rocket:
- Team Rocket appears more frequently at stops and in balloons
- Double Stardust for defeating the Rocket Grunts
- Jessie and James appear more frequently
- The move Frustration can be changed with a TM
- The Team Rocket music plays in Pokémon GO
Players report: According to players from New Zealand on reddit , Rocket Grunts appear every 20 minutes through a balloon. So you can also play comfortably from home and still defeat at least 9 Grunts in the event.
Should you take advantage of the event? Currently, the Rocket Grunts and bosses have new Pokémon for you to defeat. Especially the Shadow Shinies of the bosses are likely to attract many people to the battles.
During the takeover, you have the best conditions to fill your Rocket Radars and challenge the bosses.
Additionally, this week you need to solve a small special research related to the Grunts. For this, you need to defeat some villains. You can comfortably complete the special research during the event if you haven’t finished yet.
This bonus is particularly good: During the 3 hours, you can remove the move Frustration. This is especially important, because due to an adjustment, Shadow Pokémon have suddenly become some of the best attackers in the game – as long as they have a different charged move than Frustration.
You can use the 3 hours to teach all of your strong Shadow Pokémon different moves that will significantly improve them. Good examples include:
- Tyranitar
- Snivy
- Metagross
- Salamence
- Swampert
- Magnezone
During the hour, you can also encounter Giovanni if you have the appropriate Super Rocket Radar. In our guide to Giovanni we show you the best counters against the boss.
