“This casting makes no sense. lol”
What do the first images and the poster show? Fans got a glimpse of the stars in their Borderlands roles through the first images.
So you see:
- Cate Blanchett as Lilith
- Jamie Lee Curtis as Tannis
- Kevin Hart as Roland
- Ariana Greenblatt as Tiny Tina
- Florian Munteanu as Krieg
- Jack Black as Claptrap
Here you can see a reddit post with the first images from the film:
How did the community react to the poster and first images? Not very positively. Many criticized the look of the costumes. For instance, one user commented under the official poster: “Cosplay: The Movie,” while another mentioned that it looked like an image from Suicide Squad.
Additionally, the choice of actors is also criticized. Especially Kevin Hart as Roland is seen as inappropriate by many fans; they just can’t take him seriously as a comedy star in this role. Instead, they would have preferred Idris Elba, Michael B. Jordan, or Anthony Mackie in the role.
Here we have gathered some further reactions under the poster on reddit:
- “Can’t take Kevin Hart as Roland seriously”
- “This casting makes no sense. lol”
- “They look worse than many of the cosplays I’ve seen. Which is crazy considering the budget available for this”
When is Borderlands coming out? You can see Borderlands in German cinemas starting August 8, 2024.
Another video game adaptation coming this year is Fallout. It is an Amazon series that tells the story of a young woman who must survive in a post-apocalyptic Los Angeles. There is already a first trailer which has been well-received by fans:
