In Pokémon GO the Limited Research with Luvdisc runs today, Saturday. We show you what content you can expect and why it can be worthwhile to play in the city.
What kind of event is this? Currently, the Valentine’s Day Event 2023 is running in Pokémon GO. This brings special Pokémon like Mega Gardevoir and shiny Swablu. Additionally, bonuses are active that grant you more stardust when opening gifts and increase the duration of lure modules.
A special day of this event is February 11, when you can dedicate three hours to Luvdisc.
Limited Research with Luvdisc
When does it start and end? The event starts today, February 11, at 2:00 PM. It is active for three hours and ends at 5:00 PM (local time).
What does the event bring? By spinning photo discs at PokéStops, you will receive field research that rewards you with Luvdisc encounters. There is a chance that you will receive a shiny during these encounters.

What you need to consider: During Limited Research events, you benefit from having many stops in your area. In the past, many players in rural areas complained about receiving very few event tasks due to the few stops available. Thus, the encounters with Luvdisc were fewer.
If you plan to receive as many Luvdisc encounters as possible, you should play in places like parks or in the city, where you find many PokéStops.
No Timed Research: During the last event of this kind, there was confusion in the community. Many trainers waited for their Timed Research and complained that it had not been unlocked for them. The event is called “Limited Research” and does not unlock any Timed Research like Sweet Wishes for the Valentine’s Day event. You will receive the tasks only through field research.
Who is it worth it for? Luvdisc is by no means a strong attacker that you need for your collection. But shiny hunters can try their luck during the event and maybe catch a few yellow specimens of the Pokémon.
Additionally, the altered spawns in the wild might be a reason for you to play during the three hours.
