In Baldur’s Gate 3 there is a strong robe in Act 1, for which you usually have to permanently sacrifice a companion. However, a player has shown that there is another way to do it without losing the companion. MeinMMO tells you how to go about it.

In Faerûn, there are many powerful items, from legendary weapons and armor to strong permanent advantages that can make a decisive difference in combat. One of these coveted armors is the Hell robe from Mizora, which you can grab in Act 1.
To obtain this robe, players have so far had to kill the tiefling lady Karlach, one of the companions in the game. However, a player has discovered a way to get the Hell robe without permanently eliminating Karlach. You can even recruit her afterwards.
Normally, you have to permanently sacrifice Karlach for the robe, but there is another way
What kind of robe is this? You can obtain the Hell robe from Mizora. It grants you fire resistance, +1 to your armor class, and a level 4 spell called Fire Shield: Warm.
The spell deals 2d8 fire damage when the opponent hits you with a melee attack – it can last for 10 turns as long as you don’t lose your concentration. Additionally, you take only half the damage if it’s cold damage. On top of that, the robe looks pretty good.
How do I obtain the robe? Normally, you have to permanently sacrifice your beloved tiefling lady Karlach for the robe. However, the player acedamegames shows you on Instagram how to obtain the robe without losing Karlach.

This is how you can do it according to acedamegames:
- First, go to the Druid Grove and talk to Wyll. He will ask you if you can defeat the devil for him. Accept the quest, recruit Wyll, and release all your other companions except for him.
- Next, go to Karlach, but press G once so that Wyll does not follow you to her. Otherwise, a sequence with him will start. Now you kill Karlach first without talking to her beforehand. It’s best to use a ranged weapon, spell, or cantrip for this. But don’t worry, she won’t be permanently dead.
- Now return to Wyll and talk to him to continue his story quest.
- Now you can bring Karlach back to life with a resurrection scroll. But be careful not to get too close to her so you don’t trigger a cutscene.
- Teleport to camp and take a long rest.
- Mizora will now come to you. After the dialogue, you will receive the powerful Hell robe.
- After that, you can return to Karlach and even recruit her as if nothing ever happened.
Overall, this method shows that there are often multiple ways to achieve your goals in Baldur’s Gate 3… also in this case through exploits.
